Perry, this is all pretty cool - thanks for the pictures! OH
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark

Re: Pics of rehearsal for Vegas
Here's a nice thing that wound up being placed in my room today while we were rehearsing. Little girt basket from the employees of the Hotel here. Wine, water, cheeses, looks like some sausage of some kind and topped it off with this pretty cool Bolo tie. along with a nice photo of the employees. Thank you Venetian!
Oh and also got these cool looking acrylic dice, I'll have to see if they're excepted at the gaming tables.

Re: Pics of rehearsal for Vegas
Yep it's much more work than I normally would've thought Dale. However very rewarding and gratifying. I can't say enough about the help and staff here at the Venetian, top drawer!
We have been given a daily amount to spend in hotel credit, seventy five bucks. You would think that would be fairly low but it's actually pretty hard to spend it everyday when you don't do much gambling. Just got back from a quick trip down to Houston, for a private party yesterday. The cool thing is we were flying private charter. We flew out after the last show on Saturday night around 1pm, hopped the plane and wheels up at 1:30am. Landed in Houston 3 hours later, roughly 6am Central time. Hit the hotel for a few hours sleep, 4 to be exact, and headed to the gig at this guys huge mansion. He is apparently head of a huge Law firm down there. After the gig, around 8pm, we hopped back on the plane to come back to Vegas. To say that my personal time clock is all fowled up right now would be an understatement!
But if you think about it like I am, today, Monday, is a day off so I have no problem with it. This has been the most rewarding and grueling work I have ever been a part of since I began singing. I meant to say that Saturday night's shows were special because at the first show we found out that THE BOSS, Springsteen and Tom Hanks were there!
I have met and talked with Hanks a few times over the years but when Bruce tells you he couldn't believe we weren't lip-syncing and that it sounded incredible, you tend to lose your mind a little for a moment. I will probably dine out on that one night for a few years! Well that's all that happened over the past few days, hope to have a relaxing day today and back at it tomorrow.

Perry,
I was just listening to Nashville entertainment reporter Jimmy Carter on a local radio program and he was extremely complimentary of the show, which he caught on Sat night. It was a glowing report!

Hey Ray, that's great to hear as well. The critic thing has always been an interesting thing to me. That someone can actually make money critiquing others.

After all, it's just an opinion. Like certain body parts, everybody has one and they all stink. Their opinion has more weight than mine just because they get to spew it over the air waves to a public that can't call them on their B.S.?? Nah, I don't think so. They're all just another dip stick with no oil on it.singin46 wrote:The critic thing has always been an interesting thing to me. That someone can actually make money critiquing others.

Wow, playing music for a living sounds like the dream Perry. Very cool. I appreciate you letting us live vicariously through you! Right now I guess I'll have to settle picking my HD-28 with my old-time and bluegrass playing friends and singing/playing John Prine songs at open mikes and on the couch. Keep on pickin'.

Jerry, one of my Prine favorites as well. I love to play it on the guitar. Not as well as John and Steve Goodman did though!
