Interesting and informative discussion
Here's one I have that has a small scribe for use in a wine cellar or for marking small wooden boxes, etc.

That is just a REALLY COOL knife!
Definitely made for use in a fermenter's job. Corkscrew for opening bottles, the scribe for marking barrels, saw and pen blade... VERY COOL.

That’s a nice piece, that was a useful tool in its day. So as Mike said a fermenters knife,interesting piece.

I have another one I need to find pictures of. It has a folding D-guard to protect your hand whilst marking logs.
Its not pretty just a plain utilitarian old tool meant to do its job!

Picked up this Timber/ Barrel Scribe today
Was a bit dirty ,cleaned it up a little and oiled handles and joint. Been used ,but solid yet. This may go with our lumber markers section in our display at Carson park . Tang is NEW YORK over KNIFE Co over WALDEN .

Thanks Mike, was a fun find as we was just talking about finding one, and they worked with me on the price

Did notice the stamp is up on the shank unlike the others shown. They’re marked on the tang .
