All About Pocket Knives

Cleaver by Matt mcalevy. Had it made for sons birthday gift.

Mine can’t compare to a lot of those but I already snapped two photos so figured why not share. Top to bottom: Case Old Forge. I got 3 knives of this line that my late Mother received a set as a wedding gift. I rounded out a bunch of models she never actually had including the chef’s. A Case cleaver I just rehandled and ready to work. Walnut handle on this side to match the Case Early Americans below it. Now don’t judge me on the bottom one. It used to be the same model like the one above it. However the blade was so chipped it made that Chinese cleaver posted above look good. It’s still a work in progress and requires a blade thinning and sharpening. The size came from a cheap small China chef the wife used that I kept finding myself grabbing. Back side cleaver handle in oak to match Old Forge.

Those are stunning and look like a super handy useful blade shape on both!

Here's a Robinson Knife Co, cleaver. The Company was started in 1921 in collaboration with W.R. Case and made knives, scissors, and razors. By the 1930's Robinson bought out the Case holdings and the Case factory and equipment in Springville, N.Y. Robinson is still in business as the Robinson Home Products Co.

From Japan...

Here is a Green River WORKS Cleaver #10. I'm doing a restoration on it. It was covered in a coating of about 2'' of rust.

A French, SABOTIER and a ROBINSON KNIFE Co., Springville, NY, a company once owed by a Case brother that is still in business but not making knives.
I use the Frenchie for many kitchen and cooking chores. It stays razor sharp and cuts ripe tomatoes as thin as I like. I paid $2 for it at a church sale over 30 years ago. J.O'.
