Bayonet Has the Imperial Chrysanthemum stamp on the tang. Really crappy steel, hard as the dickens to put an edge on. Read somewhere that a lot of their weapons were derived from railroad rails they took out of China when they were cut off from western sources.

Wow! I've been reading and answering notifications all day long, and just now got free to post my comfort knife. I chose this one to hang out on my table with me today, cuz it's a cool 8 3/4" made in Spain J.J. Martinez fulcrum-release folder that has a SS spear-point blade with n/n, NS bolsters with accents, SS liners, brass pins, and stag scales. Substantial weight of about 3 oz.'s, and sharp. When closing the blade one needs to pull-up on the lever on the spine, and then fold closed. Opens with slip-joint action. This knife feels really slim in your hand, and is a pleasure to handle.

Did it come with the Band-Aid? J.O'.

LOL! That is so funny you should ask that J.O.! When I saw it while taking the pic I thought to myself "I wonder if anyone will notice the band-aid?" I actually cut my finger on the Paragon I posted a couple days ago! Good eye though!

I chose my brand new J. Russell Green River Knife Works EZO Barlow slip-joint folder as my table companion for today! Exactly 9" oal/SS spear-point blade with n/n, SS bolsters and liners, brass pins, and cross-cut burnt brown bone scales. Comfortable 5 oz. weight, and sharp. Has the usual RGRKW markings. A nice BIG knife! If you like this one, Sharpnshinyknives has 1 more in his store, albeit not an EZO, but identical otherwise!

Us knifers go through some bandaids.

Not surprised you got cut on the Paragon. They are scary sharp. The stag on the JJM is very nice.
I cut myself for the first time in a long time on that “Strike Force” I have in my store. I’m pretty certain that it was made by the same cutlers that made the Paragon’s. I barely contacted it and got a good slice from it.

Thanks Mark, and same here, I was innocently shifting the knife from 1 hand to the other, and somewhere along the line my middle finger got in there and sliced in deep! I have that "Strike Force" on my "Wishlist", it's such a cool knife! In the description for the JJM it stated "presentation stag", and they weren't kidding, it's quite nice!

I have this Thiers Cutlery made in France 7 3/4" oal slip-joint with me today. It has a 12C27 Sandvik drop-point blade with n/n, brushed SS bolsters, SS liners and pins, and jet-black ebony scales. About 3 oz.'s, and scary-sharp. Has all the company's markings stamped on the blade and tangs, and displays a run-up with extremely tight tolerance. The walk is silk-smooth, and the talk, well the talk, lets just say that you don't want your fingers in the way when this one talks! A very well built knife!

Looking good there Marco. I do like the blade shape and ebony is always classy.

I have my brand new SSk Moki 433 lockback with me today! The closer I examine this knife, the more I see the quality that's built into it. It's 7 1/4" oal/VG-10 clip-point blade with a 75% swedge and a n/n, SS bolsters liners and pins, blue jigged bone scales, and a SS lanyard tube. A touch over 3 oz.'s, and incredibly sharp. The markings are the blade etch of the SSk logo along with "Exclusive Special Edition of 50", and a "MOKI" tang stamp. The rear tang stamp displays "VG-10/JAPAN". Made exclusively for Mark at SSk. I chose one of the copies that is slightly lighter blue than the rest, but in all honesty I can't see the difference. A beautiful knife that I will treasure for the rest of my days! Believe me when I say, my laptop camera does NOT do this knife's gorgeous appearance justice!

My "comfort knife" tends to be the latest purchase, or a new EDC-type folder that can use some breaking in. There's always some kind of knife on the coffee table to fidget with.

Yep, me too Des! There's always a knife within arm's reach of me on my table to 1 or 2 hand open/close, or just fondle in general. I looked over at my collection in their displays one day, and thought, "I'm not getting any enjoyment out of my knives with them just sitting there", and that's when I decided to pick out 1 each day to have beside me while I work on my laptop or watch TV. Also, doing this has quelled my desire to buy every knife I like, since that's impossible, and, it affords me the opportunity to really appreciate the one's I already own. Some days I wish I was still young and in better health so I could carry my knives when I go out, but that not being the case, I satisfy my desire by choosing a new one each day and simply "play" with it as often as the mood arises, which is usually quite often. I liken it to the smooth stones one can buy, or just find, that provide soothing comfort when handled. Might seem odd to some, but you gotta work with what ya got!

Marco, you have provided a very apt explanation of why in recent months I began choosing a desk knife to be with me daily. It renews my appreciation for what I have.

Glad to hear that Garry! I was hoping my words would strike a chord with some of you guys! It was actually your displaying some of your "desk" knives that planted the seed for the idea, so thank you for that!

Mark, I am grateful for your praise of my knives. Once you get a Moki, you just can’t help noticing all the fine details that they executed so expertly.
I remember taking my first Moki to work with me, even used the canvas leather sheath that came with it. Wore it on my belt. Clients thought it was a cell phone, so did the auditors when they came in. My firm had a policy against knives and guns at work. So it’s nice when they think that and don’t ask about the sheath on your belt. I couldn’t help taking it out and showing to anyone that would listen. I cut paper w/ it in circles and funny angles to impress them with how sharp it was. I would shave hair on my arm and even hold the edge of the blade against the back of my thumbnail and shave off a thin layer of my thumbnail. So many things you can do with a high quality sharp knife. Made a few converts to Moki doing all that.

Absolutely my pleasure Mark, your knives deserve high praise! I almost had you send the leather sheath along for this one, but the reality was, I would never use it, plus the shipping issue, so I figured you could put it to much better use than I. You've certainly made a Moki convert of me! Thanks again for making them available to us!

While I don't have a "comfort knife" by Mark's definition, I always have a knife in my pocket that will come out for some fondling from time to time. I would say I do find comfort in that. Some may find it odd, but during those times I like to open the knife and take pleasure in the edge I've put on the blades. Having a sharp knife in hand is just, well, comforting!

The little SAK is just because I can't bring myself to stick it away in a knife folder.
The RR Peanut is used for misc. cutting tasks.
The yellow SAK is because I just love looking at it.
The Leatherman Wingman is just because............... On the table next to my reading/TV watching chair along with 7 remote controls ----
The Beretta is for coon fingering & chicken eyeing plus the occasional cutting task. On my desk top ----
