On second thought I have a knife/sheath that shares some attributes with yours, which has been suggested to be from the Toten area of Norway.

I think they're one of the more commonsense axes you can get. I love my Estwing--but it's too heavy. The small Marble's hatchet I have is too light duty for more intensive jobs, and for driving wedges for chainsaw work--the Estwing handles it all well. I bought an X7 some years back marked down at Lowe's due to a chipped edge and missing cover. Promptly made a mess straightening it out. Think I'll get another, and the smaller "X5" hand axe. Unfortunately, the X5 is discontinued, and people ask more than double what it's worth.
The good thing about the little (roughly 1 lb.) Marble's axe is the cover. It is not separate, and just flips out of the way when needed. It's much cheaper made than earlier "Pocket Safety Axe" replicas, and that AG Russell sells, but it's decent. It is one of the few cheap axes I've owned that was passably sharp also.

That Marble's axe looks like a great little axe!cody6268 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 1:15 amThe good thing about the little (roughly 1 lb.) Marble's axe is the cover. I believe there is one or more extensive threads on AAPK on Nordic knives.

Re: Anyone collect knives from Sweden/Norway/Denmark & Finland?
Here is one of my EDC fixed blades. A very solid Normark. I have a couple of Normark "Big Swede" knives and I also have a a Normark fillet knife that's probably about 30 years old. I haven't used it all that much, but when I have, it's done a great job.
...
As I recall the Normark knives that I have were made by Eriksson of Mora, Sweden.

Some impressive cutlery being shown. I think I have shown most of mine in the puuko thread. Love these knives!

Re: Anyone collect knives from Sweden/Norway/Denmark & Finland?
I got these at a show years ago. I was told they were "Scandinavian Knives" from a dealer. What do other members think? I don't know and I am not an expert on puukos nor moras, etc. Any ideas from other AAPK members?

Interesting and distinctive knives. They seem to me to have been made elsewhere than northern Europe.

I think the knife with the longer blade is hand forged and the shorter blade is made by stock removal.tongueriver wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 2:35 pm Interesting and distinctive knives. They seem to me to have been made elsewhere than northern Europe.

I did some horse tradin' for this barrel knife, my one and only. Very cool design.

Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!
