Some excellent beers on that list John. Having spent a lot of time in Germany, Iβve become acquainted with several of those.
The Weihenstephan Brewery claims to be the oldest brewery in continuous operation in the world. Located in Freising, Germany (near Munich). It occupies an old Benedictine Abby where the monks brewed beer starting in 1040 AD, and is presently the site of the University of Munich graduate school of brewery science. There is also a large biergarten and restaurant there. The company I worked for most of my career has a factory in Freising, so I became well acquainted with the place.
IMHO the best beer Iβve ever had is Erdinger Weissbier. Brewed in Erding, Germany which is just a few miles from Freising. I have a few of those in my fridge now.
If you have a chance to go back to Leesburg, give those a try.

Thanks for the recommendations, Ken.

I had a Weihenstaphaner Pilsner at Herb's today along with a Devil's Backbone Oktoberfest, some brats, rotkraut, sauerkraut and German potato salad. It was delicious and a knife talking good time.

Nice fall day yesterday so I sat outside for a bit and enjoyed a home brewed Irish Red. It wonβt be long and Iβll be stuck inside for 4-5 months so I gotta enjoy the weather while I can.

Very sweet, Jeff!

And another one of my favorites, I used to drink Killian's all the time. I like darker, malty beers when the weather turns colder.

Well this looks like a new thread that's popped up since I've been away. I'll have to go through this and see if I can find a selection for this evenings Braves game. My old standby New Castle Brown Ale I believe has suffered since it's sale and exit from New Castle, Eng. to Lagunitus Brewing company in NY. and CA. Just doesn't taste as good to me any more.

Seeing your Octoberfest posts made me hungry and thirsty! I havenβt been to one of those festivals in many, many years.

I usually try to hit 2-4 each year. Missed Lovettsville, VA this year, the whole town does Oktoberfest as it's a Bavarian Village. Last year was a total bust of course, so I'm making up for lost time.

Keep giving it the old college try, John. But go cheap until your taste comes back.

Pale Ales (usually) and Indian Pale Ales are not to my liking, regardless of recent popularity.

John I had just about quit drinking beer for that reason until I discovered the Brown Ale category. Lagers, IPA's, Stouts all made me gag a little bit. I have discovered that you must become very selective though even in this category.

I had COVID and lost all taste and smell. Right now I am at about 80 percent regained on everything but beer.
I do keep trying and hoping my taste for beer comes back.

You should just keep drinking non-stop until your taste buds come back to life! Drown those little taste buds and show them whoβs the boss!
(Glad to hear youβre getting some of your taste back!)

Sitting on the front porch enjoying the beautiful Hoosier weather and AAPK, along with a great pale ale.
