There's a front moving through Kentucky right now and it's hard to keep a hat on your head. Winds blowing from 25-40 mph this morning. Sky is clear and blue but that wind is something else.

It was 40 degrees at 0430 this morning. This time of year that usually means fog, but it was not too foggy today.

Chilly and getting cooler in Alexandria but still did a mt bike ride today. 50 degrees and overcast here, supposedly it's spitting snow in Western Maryland. ::groove::

Here's a selfie of my new XC ski setup that I'm dying to try out.

Right on schedule, first frost of the year here last night. Usually happens right around Thanksgiving (except when it doesn't ). Frost-tender plants all brown and wilted today.

We got a light dusting yesterday evening. Just enough to make the grass and roads white. It's 13º here this morning, warming up to somewhere around the mid 40's for Christmas day.

We got about 6 inches of snow and single digits last night. This coming week is suppose to be mild again and maybe even melt a little. ___Dave

Dave, that's a beautiful picture! I know y'all live in that stuff but as an ol' southern redneck, just can't figure why y'all don't move to the land of alligators and mosquitos and not have spend all your knife money on winter clothes ::shrug:: . We had a low of 32 this am and it got to 64 in the pm, supposed to warm up this week ::tu:: !

I was 16 years old the last time I lived someplace that had a little house out behind the big house, no inside running water (baths in a #2 washtub in the middle of the kitchen floor. Try and fold 6'2" into one of those) and no central heat. When you grow up with it and your living it, you don't think anything about it.

 Jerry, I've taken many a bath in a tub just like that one when I was a kid. My grandparents on both sides of the family had no indoor bathrooms. Everyone bathed in a galvanized wash tub. My mom explained it to us kids like this. You take the washcloth and start at your head and wash down as far as possible. Then start at your feet and wash up as far as possible. Then you wash "possible".

And when you're washing a passel of kids, you wash the cleanest one first and work on down the line to the dirtiest one. You may not be able to tell much difference between before and after with that last kid.

That explains why I was always the last kid to bathe! My two sisters always bathed first. By the time my turn came the water was cold, soapy, and murky looking. ::dang::
