I picked up a new in the box Browning Hi Power 9mm over the weekend. The gun was made in 1995 according to the serial number but it remains unfired all these years later. I don't know how long I'll be able to continue making that claim as it's calling me to take it for a spin already. A buddy of mine who has been deceased for almost nine years now had one of those pistols and I've wanted one ever since I shot his fifteen or more years ago. I just never seemed to be able to swing one until now.

Philco, that's a nice looking Hi Power. I know you will like it.

My Dad gave one to me several years ago - it's my favorite. Mine was made in 1981.

Philco: In my not so humble opinion you now possess as fine a handgun as has ever been produced. With modern defensive ammo the Browning need not take a back seat to any fighting gun on the market today. This is especially true with just a few minor adjustments. I like express sights. While many have the trigger smoothed up, I did not feel it necessary for my needs. I know I am out of date but I have never warmed up to polymer though there are obviously many fine pistols employing it. Whatever the caliber, my first choice is always steel. Hope you enjoy shooting it as much as I have.

Boys, I got a rare one today! OH and TAB know that I'm an awful Ithaca 37 nut. Well I got one if the rarer ones! It's a 20 gauge model 37 ultralight! And when they say ultralight,they mean it, under 5lbs closer to four, and with a 3 inch chamber no less. It's been used, shot a bunch but still in good shape. I've got her cleaned up, ill touch up the finish, and then she'll shine again.

Thank you gentlemen. In my part of the world you're fortunate if you see one Ithaca Ultralight in a lifetime. They're that rare. Then if I told ya what I got it for you'd think me unchristian.

So I've decided that it must have been because of that knife bomb that I did. The Lord paid me back. So I guess I'm going to have to send Josh a knife before every gun show now.

Hey Colonel26 did the make different gauges in the Ithaca Ultralight, or did they only make it in 20ga.

Ranger, that's a dandy. I have an old JC Higgins 9 shot .22 and its a little tack driver. Shoots way high like they all did, but a tack driver. Just the ticket for a walking around in the woods gun here KY.

Jeff they made it in 12 gauge for a while too. I'm just not sure I'd want to shoot one. Remember this 20 weighs right in the 4-4.5 lb range! Can you imagine shooting 1 1/8 loads out of a 5 lb 12? Wow!

From what I understand the 20's were the most popular in the ultra featherlight. TAB2you grew up shooting one in 20 gauge and according to him 1 oz loads in the 20 will get your attention! 7/8 oz aren't bad in moderation, but I still don't think I'd want to be in a hot dove shoot with it.

The Ultralights were popular upland game guns where I grew up, I was probably 15 before I saw an Ithaca that was "normal" in weight. My first duck gun was an Ithaca Ultralight in 20 gauge. When I couldn't hit anything with it, I tried an Ultralight 12 Finally got an old Parker in 12 gauge and did right well with it--then the lead shot ban came along.

Now I just wave at ducks when they fly overhead.

That brings back memories. When I first started turkey hunting I bought a 12 ga. H&R single shot turkey gun that shoots 3 1/2 inch magnums. I shot it twiced before I traded it off to a friend of mine. After the second shot my arm was numb. I get a call every turkey season from my buddy cussing me and telling me how I riped him off. HEHEHE

Here is a Colt Automatic 25 cal. I picked up the other day. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but hope it is accurate as the person I got from claims.

I am double posting (in the same day no less) as I am just stoked about this gun and in case you all don't visit the "Outdoorsman's Thread". Please forgive the double post if you saw it there. If moderators or admins see fit to remove due to that fact, please feel free. Germaine to both threads, in my opinion.

Have you met the GOVERNER?

I figured best to buy it now. This might deemed an “evil gun” soon for all I know. This gun does fit the “Outdoorsman” for snakes, varmints, etc, even knocking down big game or predator in close with the right round.

Smith and Wesson GOVERNER. 2" barrel, 6 shot. 30 ounces. Fires various 2-1/2" 410 shells, 45 Long Colt, 45 ACP (need to use a moon clip just like some of the old S&W revolvers for .45 ACP). Similar to the Taurus Judge 5 shot revolver. Came with a "Crimson Trace" laser grip also. Not that I needed any more guns but you know how it is.

Laser sight has an integrated pressure switch activated by your middle finger in the finger groove under the trigger guard. Free lifetime batteries, one set per year. I would not have put the laser sight on it myself, had it not come with one. But hey, a red laser dot in your chest or on your forehead might cause the person on the receiving end to have second thoughts about the stupid idea that caused said idiot to end up with a laser dot on their chest or forehead. Your results may vary including intruder defecation, apologies that fall on deaf eras, panic or jumping thru the nearest window, etc.

Forget the laser. With 3 possible cartridges to use including all the variations of projectiles, pretty versatile for a variety of applications, all mostly short range of course. I like the fact you can load various rounds with different applications in the same cylinder. Mixed bag if you will without reload required. I bought $400 in ammo for it. Buy it while you can. Some 410 000 3 pellet BuckShot, alot of 250 grain Long Colt 45 and some 185 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point in 45 ACP. The real nasty defense round for close in is the Winchester PDX1 DEFENDER 410 Shot Shell. Features 3 .410 diameter "flat discs" at the tip followed by 12 BBs. The discs hit pretty flat and group well from what I have read. Probably will more the do the job with less blood and gray matter to cleanup versus the Long Colt. Need to be practical, you know.
Anyway, sorry to ramble just an excited man at this moment. Look forward to trying it out this weekend on some unsuspecting large melons if I can find some.
