Re: First Cup Diner!
This place sure doesn't do much business at this time of the morning. I thought sure someone would be up getting ready to go fishing or mow the lawn (the Colonel). Guess I'll go see if I can grab an extra 40 winks.

Re: First Cup Diner!
Good moning all.
I've been up for two hours now but just now got around to stopping in. I went to bed a little later than usual but my dog woke me up at 5 AM wanting to go outside. When he wants out, you better let him out. I did and I've been up ever since. I woke up hungry so I fried up some bacon, sliced a fresh ripe tomato and made myself a bacon and tomato sandwich.....and yes I used Miracle Whip to add a little touch of perfection to it.

Woke up at 4:30 with a charlie horse in my right calf! That's twice in the past week! Finally got it worked out and made my way to the coffee pot. I hate rude awakenings like that, kinda sets the tone for the whole rest of the day.

Morning gents, we are at Carolina Beach for the week. It rained during the drive down and is still raining; didn't get up until 0715, then had to go find a store to buy some coffee filters so I could put the pot on. Got that done and went to Britt's Donuts to get some of their great beach donuts - damn, already back to Fall hours (got to wait until THUR-FRI-SAT to buy some) - had to eat a banana for breakfast (like Obama-care - forced healthiness)! I'll be checking in as the WIFI works and we are at the condo - have a good one!

Re: First Cup Diner!
Mornin' all. Just sitting here in the dark, too early to wake everybody. Haven't even started the pot yet.
Must be sumthin goin around....the Boss woke up middle of the night with leg pain, though I don't think hers was a cramp.
Over-size veins, she's scheduled for outpatient next week.
Monk, I've not heard of stomach issues with the potasium tablets, but I never took them long term, either. Usually a couple days worth and I was good for awhile. I think it's been two or three years since I had a bout with the cramps
Well, it's back to work tonight. I hope the other shift straightened out some of the mess from over the weekend
.......but I ain't holdin' my breath
Great day to all!

Re: First Cup Diner!
Morning folks. Cool and a little foggy here this morning. It seems to me the weather is more typical of September than August, but that's sort of the way it's gone most all year. The weather we have had was a month early and it's been that way since January.
Monk I'm not even gonna ask what ya'll was doing to bring on the cramps like that. Just don't try it again without stretching first.
Can I get an order of biscuits and gravy please?

Re: First Cup Diner!
Sorry Monk, I wouldn't wish one of those things on my mother-in-law! Well, not usually anyway.
I used to do alot of weight training when I was younger. A charliehorse was a good sign that you had probably gotten a decent workout, but didn't cool down properly. The job i'm on right now, has been a fairly physical one. Running up and down a ladder all day is good excercise, but hard on legs that aren't used to it. A good routine of stretches before bed will likely stop the cramps from happening. It worked last night anyway, and it's a much more pleasant morning then yesterdays was!
Coffee's tastin' pretty good this morning. Hope ya'll have a fine one!!

Morning gents, sipping the first cup and watching the waves roll in. We're going to take the Southport ferry a little later and drive down to Calabash for seafood.

Re: First Cup Diner!
Sorry to be late getting in this morning as I kinda slept in. Got my first cup underway.
At my age, I have found that the cramp problem is best averted by drinking quite a bit of water. Iced tea or sodas won't work and as a matter of fact, they are just the opposite. They dehydrate the body just a bit. I tried bananas til I burned completely out on them and I am not prone to take pills. I have always been one to say 'if I am not thirsty, why drink water'. It does work for me and it is worth a try.
Have a great day everyone!

Good morning gents. As my ex-brother-in-law used to say, "Every day above ground is a good day". I have the NCR retirees breakfast this morning. Now I have to make a decision to make, a half order of biscuits and gravy or a short stack of blueberry pancakes.

Mornin', Jerry and Scott! It is another great day with just a little feel of fall in the air. but I really mean just a little.
Jerry, I am confident you will make the decision without too much trouble. Me, I'd go with the biscuits and gravy!

Ray -- They're both mighty good. The place we go each month is a Swedish pancake house (lot of Swedes in Rockford. Swedes and Italians). I'm not a big fan of Swedish pancakes but their B&G and blueberry pancakes are very tasty.
Scott -- Yes, National Cash Register. Started with them right after I got out of the Corps in the fall of '66. I didn't stay for the long haul but I ended up with 15 years under my belt (split service). I am proud to say I was a cog in that big wheel.
