We were suppose to get 6 to 12 inches a couple days ago and got a dusting. That was suppose to be followed by COLD. Sure wish we'd have gotten the snow and they could have been wrong about the COLD, but no. They just had to get that part right. Still looking at below zero tonight. ___Dave

I love that 60 degree stuff. That's what we have on most of our summer days. I don't mind down to 30 or so, but the 20 below stuff is starting to get on my nerves, and in my joints.___Dave

Hasn't been much of a Winter here in the Mid-Atlantic area, most of the local ski resorts finally opened a few trails last Thursday. Great weather for people who don't like Winter, but I do. Total opposite of last year so far.

I have been to Phoenix Arizona twice, exactly 40 years apart. First time July 4th 1964. Second time July 4th 2004. Both times it was 117ยบ. Grant that will not only melt your snow, that will melt your face off. Dry heat my great-aunty Bertha's bloomers........ It's like taking the cake out of the oven and sticking your head in.

We're going below zero tonight, where we'll stay until Monday. They're calling for snow on Wednesday. Blah, but that's January in The Great Midwest.

We are at 6 below at 4 o-clock and heading for -20 or lower tonight, with some wind. The wind chill tonight will probably be somewhere around -35. Not a night to go for a walk and would be a really lousy time for car trouble or furnace trouble. ___Dave We got down to 23 below but didn't get all the wind they promised. Car started fine after growling a little. Beautiful sunny day. Dave

1 pm in the afternoon and the thermometer has staggered up to 11 degrees probably because of the bright sunshine on a nearly cloudless day. The temps have been near zero all week and finally the wind has abated somewhat. Amazingly enough there has been nearly zero snow this year;although the last covering(about 2 inches)has left the driveway a skating rink. Even my Jack Russell doesn't like staying out more than a couple of minutes and that is with his sheepskin jacket on.Tried putting boots on him as his feet are really susceptible to the cold but he wasn't having any of that.
Although the shop is fairly warm(still haven't turned up the heaters to high)the floor is really frigid. If I put down a rug where I'm working it helps immensely.
EDIT: Just came back in after letting Buddy make sure no interlopers had infringed on his territory;marking all the usual spots and re-cycling some food. The trucks going by all have their radiator covers almost completely closed so you know it is still cold.Even though it is cold it still feels good to breathe in the frigid air. I can always tell when it is REALLY cold when I walk from my back door to my shop(about 40 feet)and my nostril hairs freeze before I get there.
Sorry for the rant;it just feels good to be alive today.
