Roger,
Very nice old knife. You might remember the Empire I had with the Empire Hunting Knife etch, but it had a saber ground blade and a lockback. Not quite as good a knife as yours either.

Ike, wonderful EO Empire Jack ::tu:: I agree with LongBlade. A knife with character and earned patina is better than any old new knife imho!

Thanks for all the comments, guys, I appreciate it. It is always nice to read comments on classic old knives, whether directed at mine, or, someone else's post. It is just good to hear from like minded individuals who appreciate, not only the looks, but the history.

Btw, that is one awesome new avatar, "Lord" Duffer. Not that there was anything wrong with your mug being pictured on the old one, but that is some sweet looking ebony.

Waukonda just a great old classic Empire. The easy open jack is one of their all time great patterns. Congrats on a great find!

Here's a few of mine - I may have posted a couple of these long long ago but here are new photos - Interesting that the jack and pen knives have similar bone and accordingly jigging:

Equal-End Bullhead Jack (3 & 5/8") with 066S as pile side stamp noting model # (and accordingly ca. mid 1920s)
Blades Open DSCN4121.jpeg
Pen w full bolsters (3 & 1/16")
Blades Open DSCN3066.jpeg
Wharnclifffe (3 & 5/16")

Those are real nice Lee. Hard to choose a favorite but the spear blade in the first knife looks fat. I think that’s what catches my eye the most. Always admired Empire. Had one for a bit and traded it but I remember how well made it was.

Thanks Lloyd, Dan, Jay and Bill ::handshake:: ::tu:: ...

Not sure I ever showed you guys the before and after of the big jack on top along with the story - I won this knife 4-5 years ago on a "whim" with this photo on eBay (when it was still a decent marketplace for knives imo) and it cost me very little as nobody was interested based on this one photo :D ... The knife was probably found in the dirt in a barn or some covered outdoor area where no rain hit it - After a gentle cleaning of the dirt from the jigging the knife and inspection of the blades and handle wells I realized I had a winner ::nod:: ... the knife is in great shape all the way around in terms of snap, tight etc and has one minor issue in my book relative to condition of the rest of the knife - the crack on mark side bone :) - doesn't take away any appeal to me at all - especially that big "tribal" spear which caught Jay's eye too  ....
