Sorry to see this, Charlie. There was a Red Bud in a City park down by the river, and every spring I would take a picture of it in bloom on a blue sky day. A few years ago they cut it down, for an unknown reason.

This one was in compromise last year. This year, there were only two viable branches.

Prarie Trillium and Bluebells are peaking. Several years ago, I transplanted into my yard these examples from the woods, and I am rewarded for a brief period each Spring.

Nice pictures Ike. I transplanted some Bluebells to Texas from my cousin's place in Missouri three years ago. Planted them in the dappled shade of a big red oak. So far they have had foliage every year but no blooms yet. At least they’re still alive so I’m still hoping they’ll eventually bloom and spread. ::fc::

Here the Iris are blooming and so are the wildflowers in the pastures. The wild roses in the fence rows are about to pop.

Spring has sprung! Actually I guess it’s early summer here but the calendar doesn’t say so. Lots of stuff is blooming.

Beautiful Iris, Harold. Is the red flower in the front in the second picture a peony? Your wife has a “green thumb”. ::tu::

Great pictures Ike. I’m jealous of your Hostas and Peonies. Here we are on the southern edge of the zones where they will grow well. I try but they typically fail. Too hot in the summers and often not enough cold in the winter to bring out the blooms.

When we bought this place over 50 years ago there was an old homesite by the creek in the far east pasture. Nothing left there at that time but some Bois D’Ark posts the house was built on and the remnants of some outbuildings . But every spring the daffodils, gladiolus, and peonies that were in the yard emerge. I’ve tried with varying success to transplant some of them to our house. The original daffodils are too crowded to bloom but the peonies and gladiolus sometimes will bloom. The glads look great this year!

We’re out in the country, but Big Dog is effective keeping deer away from the house. Since deer are not predators I doubt he would harm them, but they don’t want to find out.
