Not much, just a little history that I read online. They were around fir a number of years. I have 2, maybe 3, and they are high quality.

A schrade made shapleigh jr cattle that I always carry, from the 1940’s-1950’s, and a cool old water valve from the 1950’s. The old saying is true with both, they don’t make them like they used to.

Thanks guys, I figured old stuff like that would be appreciated around here. My dad likes old stuff too, he took that valve home after we replaced the old line it was on.

Great looking knives gentlemen!

I was able to find this Clauss #21 serpentine cattle knife at a gunshow today. I had read the name Clauss here on AAPK, but had never seen a Clauss knife before this one. It is 3 7/8" OAL, bone handled, and has the Clauss shield. My understanding of Clauss is that there were a number of companies that made these, Case, Camillus, Queen, Robeson and maybe others have been mentioned. Do the pictures suggest anything to any of you as far as the possible manufacturer?

I don't have the experience to even hazard a guess, but that sure is a good looking knife.
Especially pleasing at that length. ............ closed length?
I think I have two Clauss knives. One is my bench knife. It's a toolkit knife (no tool kit).
It doesn't hold an edge very well.

Closed length is 3 and 7/8". I think the bone and the jigging is particularly nice on this one and may give a hint as to the maker.

Actually it reminds me of some Challenge covers I've seen.

Challenge was one of the makers of Clauss knives.

Found this Geo. Wostenholme I*XL Cattle knife yesterday in Annapolis. 3-5/8" pebbled bone. Nice and tight. One of those antique stores that's into dishes far more than old dirty knives! Lucky day!! J.O'.
