This morning, my trip to the post office produced this pocket knife. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. It also became the latest example to be added to my general, CAMILLUS, pocket knife accumulation. It is a CAMILLUS "60", three blades (one has a file), 3 1/8" closed, two tang stamps, milled liners, fancy springs, tip bolsters, "split spring", "whittler", pattern or style of pocket knife. YES, I KNOW IT IS NOT A TRUE SPLIT SPRING pocket knife! The main blade front tang stamp (short line) says, "CAMILLUS (over) NEW YORK (over) USA" The main blade back tang stamp says, "60" The main blade does have a SOFT half stop. The main blade does have a VERY GOOD opening snap. The main blade does have a VERY GOOD closing snap. The secondary blade does have a SOFT half stop. The secondary blade does NOT have an opening snap. The secondary blade does have a GOOD closing snap. The third blade does have a SOFT half stop. The third blade does have a GOOD opening snap. The third blade does have a GOOD closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is in EXCELLENT condition. This pocket knife did NOT require any cleaning at all. I just wiped it off.
I took some pictures and here it is.

ALSO.....According to the 1946 CAMILLUS catalog, the CAMILLUS "60" is called a "DE LUXE SENATOR PEN KNIFE."
With some MINOR additional research, it appears that the "60", at some point, became the more familiar
"stockman" pattern, was called "Old Smoothie " and again at some point, evolved into the "61" I could NOT
find a "60" listed after 1978. The pattern number, NOT the pocket knife itself. There is ROOM FOR ERROR
in my findings, so.....
Wowser! Those springs! You always track down the good ones, Skip!

John R, Ripster, New Windsor, Jacknifeben, beautiful stuff gents. Love seeing that kind.
An older Rooster, Schrade, and Case, with a newer GEC to boot.

X 4, Iman!

Picked up a beautiful Cattaraugus Tuxedo 32653 3 1/2" MOP whittler. Has little to no use with factory edges. Pictures don't show how nice the pearl is. Probably the nicest whittler I have in the collection.

What a nice knife!
Big ol' saber clip with a small clip hanging off the back and a very useful coping blade too.
I just know you're going to wear that thing out.

Oh, and gorgeous covers.

Thatβs a stunner John. I like em with unusual master blades. That looks like a saber ground blade?

This R6393 is a recent acquisition. Not sure the purpose of the design of the master blade (looks like a blood groove?) but Iβve wanted one for a good while. Plus, itβs a Remington!

Awesome Whittler Wednesday find, Ken! I too have been attracted to that distinctive Main blade design, definitely different.

I have never seen a groove like that in a main blade. It is parallel to the saber grind, but not to the long-pull nail nick.
My first thought was that the blade was modified, as the steel inside that groove is shiny while the nail nick is dark. But it is so well done that I have a hard time believing it was not done at the factory.
I just don't know!
But I am following to see if anyone does know the origin and purpose.
She is a beauty, that much I can identify!
