Dale, I've got a similarly appointed knife, only this one's a Schrade Walden lobster, 4 year service award. I seem to recall the seller claiming that it was from sometime in the 1950's, but I don't recall exactly when. The penny's a 1945, so at least we know it wasn't made previous to that. I've got a feeling they were all roughly from the same time period:

As I understand it, whaler was first 152 scrimshaw, only one with 152 tang (as shown above) instead of the SC#. Other side of handle has whaling ship.
Nice sails but the hull could use a little work.

Nice 152's wosey. The limited edition orange handled knife, 3rd picture down, was made exclusively for SMKW wasn't it? Regardless, they all are nice looking Schrade USA 152's.

Aimus, I know the OTO is a lot more scarce than the others,
but this is first time I've heard anything about a SMKW tie-in.
Maybe Dale, LRV or Eric will have more insight on that aspect
than I do.
Box (shown in pic) may provide some clues. In addition to the
'Schrade Father/ SC15Set' w/ barcode 10336 92012 label
the other side has a like sticker that has 'Schrade Orange' over
'SC152OH" barcode 44356 10140 which is applied over the box's
original UPC barcode. Both end flaps have 152OT over
Sharpfinger over Rigid Blade

Here are a couple from the Allentown show yesterday.

The SCC 708 has the proper glaze/ crocus finish and is un-sharpened, I just couldn't get it on the photo.

I had to beat the seller up badly to get him down on the price of the florist knife. At only 3-1/4" closed I couldn't find this one in the catalog and there's no pattern number on it.

Correction : The florist knife is a S.Cut.Co., the 708 is a S.Walden.

Yeah, $22 is a little steep for that Florist's knife, Fran!!

That peach seed jigging is always a kicker for a Schrade knife to me. Who couldn't like that jigging? I've seen other knives with what they called peach seed jigging but, they were nothing like Schrade's peach seed. When I hear the words peach seed jigging I automatically think of Schrade and I compare all peach seed jigging to Schrade's style of it. I've noticed some older knives with peach seed jigging that looked exactly like Schrade's style but, I figured they were contract knives made by Schrade. Fran is the sheep's foot blade on that florist knife originally curved like that from the factory or is it just some small blade wear that makes the blade look a little curved like a half hawk? I've seen florist knives before but, not one like that. Good catch on those two Fran. They look great.

My beatup 708 with long pull went missing.
So I bought a 708B but it just isn't the same.
Yours made that warm fuzzy feeling come back

Howard,
There were several patterns produced in the Old Timer line with the ornage handles;
15OT, 152OT, 154OT, 158OT & 165OT.
As far as I know they were all SFOs for Smokey.
I don't know if anyone else ordered them in orange or not.

There is a florist's knife with the curved pruning blade in the Schrade Cut Co 1938 catalog supplement. It's a bolsterless or shadow pattern, and its pattern number is 11034 5/8W.
However, Fran's knife is 3/8" shorter (3 1/4" vs. 3 5/8").
A non-catalog item maybe, Fran?

What is the length of the Schrade Walden #176 ?

Maybe my Cut.Co. came in to being around 1945 -'46, the transition from Cut.Co. to Walden ?

At least a cousin to this:

E. WECK & SON, NEW YORK sold the upper knife, which was undoubtedly made by Schrade Cut. Co.
I think the jigging puts this knife ca. WWI, the SCC a bit later.
Edward Weck started business in 1893, and the company was still in business when Goins published his last book in 1998!!
I love those grooved nail files for the way they hold your nail on the file!!
I hate that thin curved blade, because it makes me think of trying to stop some bleeding somewhere !!
These little knives (under 3 inches long) are a lot of fun for relatively few bucks!

Like many collectors I like larger knives, but it's hard not to admire a nice little penknife. They're so nicely finished, and it must have taken a good eye and steadier hand to achieve that on tiny knife than it did on a big one.

Here are two of mine, an IXL, and a fancy celluloid C.F.Wolfertz.

I have a couple of nice Schrades too, but no photos. One is a bone shadow and the other is stag in the original cellophane sleeve. Maybe upnorth has pics of a couple...Ahem...just like them.

Here is a lightly used Stag Schrade Cut pen.

I suspect Fran's Stag pen, NITS (new in the sleeve) is the knife on the left!
