Brett:
This from initial thoughts dictates that another AAPK member has the right stuff. I do not have currently a bare barrel but I do have one mounted on an old Winchester 86. I did not pop the front site, however appearances says that it will drop over the end and slide down toward the receiver with the tapered barrel and with the raised surface just before the receiver the fit would work. The pin would be to the front sight with the back swaging on the raised portion. I have enclosed you a photo showing the location of pin race in the bottom of front end of sight mount. GREAT JOB and a hearty THANKS.
moss
Edit: Brett with your info it took all of 30 seconds on the bay to find a photo. The nomenclature of the mounting piece is bbl collar 1903 Springfield. Thought I had a fortune and instead It might go for enough to buy the reference book on sights.
Thanks again. By the way did you just buy a couple of utility knives from me.

Glad to help Moss. We could have bought knives from you? Most of the time I don't know the names of AAPK members on ebay or anything. I have often wondered if I should know a seller.
Now that you have a sight, you need a sporterized 03 Sprg. to put back in original condition.

Re: Guns & Gun Related Stuff
Better than half the time, the fix on these old pocket pistols is fairly easy. Pull the magazine, empty the chamber, remove the grips, and leave it soaking for a day or two in a parts washer. Then take it out, shake it dry, blast it dry with an air hose. Put it back together and give it a try. If that doesn't work, another quarter of the time you can soak it in a closed container of acetone for a while, then dry off as before.
Often, over time the oils have dried to a varnish, freezing or slowing the moving parts.

Re: Guns & Gun Related Stuff
Drove up to Decatur, TX to shoot in the Decatur Chamber of Commerce Clay Shoot yesterday at Fossil Pointe Sporting grounds. I had a great time shooting with my old buddies. It's my third time to shoot at Fossil Pointe - what a nice place. My goal was to break 50 this week.......and I shot a 63! My three scores so far are 44, 49, and then 63. I am loving the new Remington Versa Max. Our team didn't place, but I had bragging rights with my buddies
. They were giving out lots of goodie bags, along with caps and shell pouches, so I didn't come away empty handed. And my buddy won the big prize - they raffled of a Taurus PT24/7 9mm pistol - so of course he was thrilled.
I found this video of Fossil Pointe on youtube - if you are around the Dallas / Fort Worth area, it's a great place to shoot.

That's cool Unc. It looks like you have some great places to shoot in Texas! It makes me miss shooting Sporting Clays.

Re: Guns & Gun Related Stuff
Thanks Brett. My son and I drove back up there again this weekend and shot a couple of rounds of sporting clays. Even as soft shooting as my Versa Max is, 200 rounds was about as much as my old shoulder could take.
I shot a station with my friends new Browning Citori 725 Sporting. It cost three times what my Versa Max cost - it's a beautiful gun, and very light - but kicked like a mule. I was ready to go back to my Versa Max pretty quick. That Versa Max shoots like an old Cadillac drives - nice and soft.
My son is a senior at Texas A&M, so he doesn't have much time to get away. I really enjoyed spending the time with him. He was shooting my old Remington Model 58, and it gave out in the first round (firing pin?). So we both shot my Versa Max - and now he wants a new shotgun for his birthday

A friend of mine just ordered one of these. I think I see some green starting to form around my ears. Could I be coming down with a touch of envy?

Love Ruger's; that is a nice Bearcat. This is my 45 Colt New Model Blackhawk.

Nice ones Guys!
By the way, the big store sportman chain "Scheels" has lots of ammo for sale. Looks like they have stores in Utah, Nevada and the upper Mid West. Picked up quite a bit. It may be awhile before the mom and pop stores get more in since the big accounts have first dibs. The prices were normal and some limits on amount you can buy but not bad. Lots of bulk boxes and all calibers available. Not knock off brands either. Was able to buy 1000 rounds of Federal .223 and 3 bulk packs of 250 rounds Remington .40 cal in one visit so looks promising that things may be getting back to normal. Not a cheap shopping visit by any means but I figure grab it while you can.
Regards, Jerry

I bought one of those when they were still fairly new on the market in the mid-'80s. Sold it to one of my best friends and now I wish I hadn't.Old Hunter wrote: I have an early Government Model in .380 acp, nice carry guns.

Nice handguns, guys.
I finally decided if I was going to going to shoot clays, I might as well get a proper gun for it. I bought a Browning Citori last week. I haven't got had a chance to shoot it yet - might take my son out this weekend to bust a few clays and see how she handles.
