Carrots and peas coming along nicely. I suppose I should thin those carrots out a bit, that's always a pain though!

Here is the 1st of the Bell pepper crop, stuffed with rice, venison sausage, onions, mushrooms, sour cream and mozzarella cheese. We've been eating some of the small grape tomatoes for a week or so. The peas planted last week are shining from end to end in every row! Hoping all this rain from Christobal doesn't harm them too much.

- A baker's dozen.

Hey, Phil! I don't mind leftovers! Is Tuesday too late?
Love stuffed peppers, and I do prefer grape tomatoes over cherry tomatoes!
Stay dry, my friend. Praying that the storm doesn't hit you too hard.

Thank you, Steve. We've only had 1.5 inches so far, none standing or running off.
Any time you come down to LA there should be somethin' in the fridge to eat. Left over peppers are easier to eat in my way of thinking, they are easier to cut cold then reheat in the microwave than when they first come out of the oven.
Y'all have a good day, we are almost ready for church this morning.

Good stuff Phillip, you are the stuffed pepper master. I would love to sit down at a table with you and sample your work!

And with some thing, such as those peppers, they just taste better after sitting a day or so and letting all those flavors meld!

I love stuffed peppers but I have never had one so well stuffed as yours Phil. I believe your recipe is inspired.

Nice looking carrot and pea patch, Mike.
Treefarmer - there ought to be a rule against posting photos like those stuffed peppers! Just seeing that makes me ready to start cooking some supper. We have had quite a bit of rain here today, but nothing torrential. Mostly just a steady light rain.
Great to see this thread revived.

Enough of the peppers, here are a few more pictures of our reduced garden this year:

- To make the garden better, more productive, you need a few bees to pollinate the blooms.

- Here is a row of the Big Boy Purple Hull peas planted on June 30.

- Marketmore cukes beginning to climb an old cattle panel lattice.

- This cucumber tendril did this wrap since yesterday afternoon. They become climbers and are easier to pick. Usually takes 7 pounds to make about 6-8 quarts of Lime Pickles.
We'll try to post a picture or two of the Jalapenos and the Sweet Bananas when we stuff them.
Keep diggin' in the dirt!

Nothing better than a tomato picked fresh
off the vine
Then take a nice thick slice of said tomato,
place it between two slices of toasted white
bread, generous layer of mayonnaise and some
fresh cracked pepper.
I eat these all summer, not very nutritious, but
very delicious
Ken

Ken, ya had me going until you got to the dreaded Mayonnaise.

Nothing personal ya understand.

And don't forget, be double-dog sure that the mayo is Miracle Whip!!
Ray

Okay, here we go with the Mayo arguments again..............LOL
Miracle Whip is salad dressing, Hellman's is mayonnaise I thought
Ken

That's true Ken but that Mayonnaise crap ain't fit for man nor beast.

The Big Boy/Purple Hull pea plants are doing well, thanks to the showers and the hot weather. The plants will turn into vines as the season progresses and make a solid mat of green that one must negotiate in order to harvest the peas. That is if the deer haven't already done their damage. They hardly ever bother the plants, they wait for the almost mature peas, then they do the damage.

Looking good Brother Phillip. I raised purple hull peas once. I planted a great big mess of them just so I could be sure and have plenty! Those things liked to have taken over the whole place! We had peas for a LONG time. lol. They sure were good though.

I have always enjoyed this thread, though I have not contributed much. Time to revive it!
I always knew that there had to be a use for guthooks other than dressing animals. Now I know. My Schrade Guthook is perfect for opening bags of potting mix. And even better for harvesting scallions.

Good to see you posting again, Mike! We laid low on the gardening this year, just a few things in some raised beds, no long rows planted with the tractor.
Fine looking box of 'maters and peppers!

This one was probably made to harvest grapes, I believe that the tang stamp is French. It serves me as a display prop with my Russian rifles. If sharpened on both sides, it would earn quite a bit of respect in a bar-room brawl as well; get 'em coming and going. My garden keeps getting smaller and smaller each year, but feels bigger and bigger.
Fair warning, they may call you a psycho if you carry your sickle on your cycle.

Broke out the GEC mini moose from 2012 today. Some mini jack pumpkins and an unknown volunteer gourd of some sort.
Also an Abe Lincoln tomato that tipped the scale at just over 3 lbs....and a 2 lb Pineapple tomato.
