Yes that is an empty. The bolt is already closed and ready to fire. LOL The action on those things is LOT faster than we are.
Here's a pic of my stepson gettin his butt whipped by that thing and the emptied clip about to land on his head.

I only carried the M-1 for a month (ITR). It was hard to get used to after having just carried the M-14 for three months in boot camp.

I have been watching this thread since day one because my first love before knives was firearms. I am not a hunter but I used to love to target shoot. Shame on me cause I don't do it much anymore. I have never photographed all of my firearms but after seeing all of you guys great little pieces it gave me pause to do just that, and since I'm on vacation, I figure there is no time like the present. I hope you enjoy seeing mine as much as I have enjoyed seeing yours, (I'm talking about the firearms damn it!) lol!
The first 2 are my babies. My blue Colt Python shooter and my nickel Colt python looker. Next is my Colt SAA in .357 cal. Then comes my Colt Diamondback in .22 cal. which is quite a bit harder to come by than the Diamondbacks in .38 cal. Then is the Colt Police Positive .38. This pistol was made in 1905 with a serial # of 570. Can you tell I like Colt's? My only Smith & Wesson is a Model 14, also known as a K- 38 Masterpiece with a 8 3/8" barrel. I believe a lot of the police back in the 60's would use this firearm for competitive shoots. Lastly are the only auto's that I have. A Walther P22, a Bersa .380 Thunder and a Fabrique Nationale from WW2. It's a model 1910 and is in .32 cal. I have a few rifles but only one that is pretty neat. It is a Remington Rolling Block .32 cal model #4. It was made in 1896 (by the Serial #) and still has about 95-97% blue. Bad picture, but she is a sweetie. Smoke

Thanks guys! MB, I like S&W too. That K-38 is one acurate little piece.The first firearm I ever purchased back in 1976 was a S&W highway patrolman model 28. I wish I still had it.

My dad brought this one home in his duffel bag in 1945 after his free trip to Germany for 2 years.

Great piece Jack. Would love to own one someday. Very special that your dad brought it back. Saw a program on the History channel about Lugers awhile back. Some collector they interviewed had literally hundreds of different variants. It was a really neat show.

well look at this azz whooper just trade a 1938 lc smith 16 gauge ideal grade mint books 3500 to 4000 mine was in good cond. but had a crack in stalk by receiver got 700 for it store credit so i bought this for my oldest son we picked it out together its a glock 22 rtf 40 cal. 4th gen. were gone shooting tomorrow hes getting his carring permit next week now what to get my other 2 sons and 2 daughters

Has anyone ever heard of this hand gun? It was made in Germany, possibly in the 20's or the 30's. On the side of this gun it says Indian sales model Cheyenns Wyoming made in Germey Serial no.92627 It is a 25 auto. ftd

This one was owned by my great great grandfathers brother Nathaniel Evan Wright. All the bright work is nickel/silver. 36 cal. I do not know how or where my aunt aquired it. After she passed it came to me. The most important firearm I have.

That’s just a gorgeous rifle. Is that leather between the hammer and the nipple? I wonder why the maker has the rear sight so far forward. I don’t believe this to be wrong; I’m sure it’s proper. I’m just curious. It looks to be such beautiful scroll work at the guard and the wrist. I wonder where and when it was made. Do you know? I’ll bet she’s barked many a squirrel. Will it shoot today?

Ya, that would be a good piece of informaton. Maybe it was made in Old Pennsylvania where many a long gun was beautifully produced by unsung makers in pole sheds with hand made tools in the fine art of doin without.

Nice Uncle Jed squirrel barker there FRJ. The maker took pride in it's construction. Alot of the old flint locks were made up by several different makers. One would be a barrel maker while another would make the lock and trigger assembly and then another would do all the wood work. One of the above mentioned or a totally different person would then fit everything together by hand. Your percussion cap rifle with the double triggers is not as old but is more advanced than the flint locks and was most likely made by one good quality gunmaker who took pride in his work. Does it carry any markings on it anywhere?

I'm thinkin 1850's. Nice back action lock and half stock. The double sett triggers are a nice touch too. It may have been re-breeched at some point in time as well, the wood missing around the nipple thimble makes me think that. Single key holding the stock to the barrel is more a "back East" maybe New York style than the "out West". .36 cal was pretty popular for deer and smaller game.

Like Aimus said, a lot of those guns were finished by one maker from parts of several makers. Check the lock and the top of the barrel for any writing or marks. If you're really interested in the lineage of that darlin', take some good pics of the lock area, the furniture, ( the shiny stuff ) and any and all marks you can find. the rifle belongs to edgy46, not me. I like your insight into the early rifles in general. A lifelong study for sure. It is truly a beautiful gun. How about that forend cap and the work underneath the forend as well. Is that cap common? Would it date it and place it? I guess we'll have to keep pokin egdy till he howles.
