Nice leg vice. Very few actually have makers names on them over here. usually there are just assembly stamps or the names of previous owners.

Thanks IH! I still havn't cleaned it up, but there looked like there might be a symbol of some sort with some lettering in it on the lower part of the front jaw. I'll check it out and post anything if I find it.

here is a drill...18+ inchs long...dual speed...built in level.

a small lathe i traded into...a AA109...sold by craftsman in the fifties...

here is a powered hack saw...again a craftsman sold tool...
dang thing ate the skin off my thumb cutting that rail...sliced a nice piece of either end...cleaned up the cutting torch remains...
{the track is small rail from underground mining.}

We went to the flea market today, and I wasn't going to buy anything but a couple $1 or $2 tools, which I did. Then I saw this Starrett vise on the back of the truck. The old boy wouldn't budge from $75, but I did get him to throw in the Williams extra heavy C clamp.

Here's a couple of beaters we use up ta camp,ones a turnavist the other is a squezer.

I have only seen pictures. I know Starrett bought out the Athol Vise Co. long ago, but who knows if they are still made there? I think Starrett is one of the few companies left that didn't compromise quality. (yet?)

If there is some I like all most as much as knives and old weapons is old tools.Sweet bunch.

They now have Starret gauges made in China and inspected in the US. There is still the US made lines and I think they still make some stuff in the UK too but they have not remained completely faithful.

I guess thats ok, if it means staying in business.... Maybe that is a good plan, cheap stuff for the price folks, and better stuff for they people willing to pay for top quality?

The little 2 1/2" vice, is made like a leg vise, with just a clamp. The fixed bar of the clamp was broken off, and it was $2 at a flea market. I fixed it up, adding a bar wrapped around the stationary jaw for better strength. Notice in the picture of parts, each part is stamped XXX. I bet the guy fitting parts, was doing a few at a time, marking each part as it was fit up.

Since we live in PA, vises made here have the same attraction as the knives made here. Erie and Meadville have/had vise makers, and I would like to know of any others made in PA?

That is a cool old lathe. I never heard of the maker, but it looks like old quality to me. I have an old Atlas/Craftsman that was my grandfathers. It sure does come in handy, just don't plan on high production.

Howdy Brett, yeah this is one of a whole garage of drill presses, band saws ,ripsaws, planers,table saws,router tables,etc,etc,etc. maybe I'll post pics one of these days!

Shugy, I hope you do get some pics. I am just thinking how good we have it these days, with digital cameras, and PC's, compared to just 15 years ago!

Thanks brett, Sometime in the next mo, I'll try to dig out a bunch of vintage planes ,chisels ,hand saws and what nots that are buried in there, should have done it a long time ago but life gets in the way sometimes, know what I mean?

I scored these at a garage sale yesterday. H. Boker USA gas pliers(2) Utica neddlenose, and a Crafstman slippy!

Those are cool, I am not familiar with the gas pliers, I will have to look them up.

Yeah Brett, I had to do some recon to find that info, and am still not sure exactly what they are.

They will be for sale if you have any interest......

Got this at last week's flea market. The knives are okay, but I loved the hammer. All 3 for $12 total.
