Charlie -- Do you know if the Boys Knife has half stops as well?

I ordered a couple, but haven't received them yet.
I am 90% sure they do have half stops though.

Edit: If this knife had rat-tail bolsters, it would be hard to tell it from a turn of the century (20th century) knife.

Oh DRAT! The 15 Boys has almost everything I want! It even comes in Ebony which the 76 does not.

The Oh DRAT! part is I just can't get ahead enough to buy one!

Spear and Pen, check. Half stops, check. Ebony, check. Long pull and swedge, check. 3.5" length, check!

Guys, Charlie has been kind enough to allow me to market some of his fine barlows. Look for 'em in my AAPK store in a week or two. WOW !!! Limited edition short run gettum while ye' can. Unfortunately, the double blade versions are already sold out. DOH!

So I just got my ebony wood, single blade, Huckleberry Boys knife and the first thing that came out of my mouth when it rolled out of the wax paper was "oh this is going to be my new favorite knife." Absolutely love this thing. PERFECT edc size, beautifully simple aesthetics... great snaps, half stop, and spring strength. I love the all-steel construction, really does lend to the feel of "my first knife." This thing feels strong and sturdy for the size but due to size and weight it literally disappears into your pocket! The satin finish on the blade along with the sharp 90 degree angles on the back of the blade also give it a "boys knife" feel without all the polishing. Given the intentionally rustic touches here and there, the fit of this knife however is unbelievable! Absolutely zero tolerance where the scales meet the bolsters and where the spring meets the liners. At the 65$ price mark this is unquestionably the best knife for the value I have ever bought. Final thought... the concept of this knife is bang on... this is exactly what I would imagine an affordable knife 100 years ago would be like... well built because people back then lived by the "if it's worth doing it's worth doing right" but that didn't mean it had to be highly polished or have all the bells and whistles. It would be an absolute insult to the people at GEC to put this in a safe.

Congrats Ausgebombt. It's great to hear you've made a good choice. I ordered a two blade ebony I'm eager to get.

Mine was supposed to be delivered today but Winter Storm Draco must have held it up. It's only 60 miles away right now. I'm hoping it shows up in tomorrows mail.

Yeah mine was supposed to be here the 19th but the tracking info stopped updating the 18th and i didt get it till today. Rest assured though, when you get it, theres no way you wont love it. Cant wait to see pictures of the two blade!

The Sawyer Barlow with Antique Yellow saw-cut bone handles came today. Woo hoo baby. It also meets expectations.

I sure hope the Boys Knife isn't a puny little short run! I don't know if I'll EVER be able to afford one but if so I hope it's available......

Dave, the Boy's knife and the Barlow are both built on the same 3 1/2" frame.
I have fairly big hands, and find it a perfect pocket knife, not a puny runt at all. I've been using my one-blade Barlow to test it, and it does all the domestic tasks I ask of it. It will cut up heavy cardboard shipping boxes, or sharpen a pencil to a fine point, and apples and pears don't stand a chance.
Opening Christmas cards is a pleasure, because I can catch a glimpse of that Bolster every time!!

Jerry, that's a nice #15 collection you are building! Keep up the good work!

Merry Christmas Charlie and thank you for fathering the #15 pattern. IMHO it's one of the top five patterns GEC has introduced. (or maybe the top three. #33 Conductor, #72 Mini Lockback Hunter, #15 Sawyer & Huck not in that order)



BTW, I think Dave was using "puny" to describe the number of Boy's Knifes made and not the physical size of the #15 pattern.

That is just what I meant Jerry. So many patterns are just made maybe 20 or so. I hope Boys is made for years!

Whoops, sorry Dave! I guess I need new glasses!!

I think we will see many variations of the #15 in years to come. I can imagine it as a Harness Jack, an Easy Open Jack, and other regular Jacks!
I can even see many variations on the Barlow!

That is all well and good Charlie....

But a two blade Ebony Boys is all I ask!
