All About Pocket Knives

I got a new Kershaw last weekend at the OKCA mini show. It is the Kershaw Blur with S30V steel. You talk about Kershaw sharp, this takes it to a new level! Now I am in a quandary, which Blur to carry, my black tanto Blur with BDZ steel, my purple tanto Blur with BDZ steel or this fine edge black Blur with S30V???!

I think I’m getting as bad as JerryD!

I must have every variation of tanto Blur that Kershaw made which would include the green handled version with BDZ steel, the tiger striped black version with BDZ steel, and of course the black and the black tiger stripe tanto versions with Sandvik 14C28N steel. Of course at least some of those coming fine edge and some in partial serration…

And then there are the drop point blades, so many pretty colors, so many awesome steels ................................................................

I don't know how you could, in good conscious, blame me. I only have one Kershaw Blur. The Desert Sand.

Dale and Jerry, nice Kershaws! I bought two of the Cryo II in blackwash finish. I gave the tanto blade Cryo II to my son and I kept this one. Now, if I can just resist the temptation to acquire more...

I picked these up from Dave (Kershaw Guy) at the OKCA many show December 10.
These have been around and gone any had a few left over that he was selling pretty reasonably. They are Kershaw “scary sharp.”

I posted this in the other Kershaw thread and think it belongs here too. I got it this fall from Keith (Ozzie Marie) at the Beloit Wisconsin show. I already had a Snap-On etched Speed Bump but just couldn't resist this one.

That's a KOOL bump ya got there!! How ya gonna sharpen it though.. Those extreme recurve blades scare me!!! John

John, I doubt it will ever need to be sharpened because I doubt I will ever use it. It's just eye candy to me. BUT If it ever does need sharpening, I'll just send it to Kershaw.

I was in Cabela's today and they had a sale on the Kershaw Blur. They had one left at $39.99. It's the sandvik 14c28n blade steel. A black one, with tiger stripe on the blade. so, I now own a Blur. Seems like a good knife, I've been carrying it all day.

The darn thumb studs have some very sharp edges, so if I run my hand in my pocket, I get some pretty good scratches on my skin. Doesn't feel very good. Other than that, it's fine.

New Link came the other day. Nice weight to it, and clips point up. Not too sure about this blackwash finish, going to have to see how it holds up. I usually stay away from coated blades and stick to nice satin finishes.

Mike, I like the blade profile but what is that handle color? Is that gray?

It's gray, but it does seem to have a rosy tint to it also, even in outdoor lighting.

I can't complain, stole it for $23 shipped off eBay, NIB. It did have a slight tipped blade. looks like the blade must have dropped right on the point. Either way, it took about 15 secs on the belt sander to re-profile the edge to cover it up. I think the tanto shape made it easier, as I would have had to lose more blade if it had been a drop point.

I normally prefer a satin or even polished finish to coated on modern folders, but my blackwashed Leek has held up nicely. I've seen some well-used ones that didn't show finish loss at all, even as the blade had been sharpened down some. I'm not sure how I feel about a blackwashed blade with a satin handle like that but the all-blackwashed knives look right.
