The lighthouse stamp is very interesting, the stamp tells me that the second Tidioute Cutlery Co. made this as a contract knife for the distributor. I don't know who had the lighthouse symbol, but I would like to know. This knife should be in my house

As for the a Pittsburgh knife. I have two, one is a transistion. Samuel Mason, I can go on and on about him, started Binns and Mason, then onto Pittsburgh Cutlery for about two years then to Beaver Falls. Mason and Sons New Brighton Pa then onto Ohio.

On page 130 of the latest Goins' there is a picture of John S. Holler brand called Tower Brand. This might be it.

pa The lighthouse knife looks rather like a old Case folding hunter or visa versa. I know you know all of this stuff. I had never seen the lighthouse stamping.

First, i wanted to say HI! to David Clark Nifbuf,, GREAT guy and VERY up on knives. Nice to see you around.

The Lighthouse knife is from the second generation of Tidioute cutlery. I know this becuase the stamp is in an arch. NOt straight lined. First gen was ALWAYS straight. TAKE NOTES people.

YES it does look a lot like a CASE. Anyone care to comment on that. I have never seen another Tidioute in this pattern?????? HUMMMMMMMMM..... mystery!!!!!!!!!

interesting information PA. So what do you feel the time frame? Seems to me that the knife resembles an old KA-BAR or Union Cut Co. Could be yours if you had any old automatics to trade?

As promised is a photo of a rare Pittsburgh Cutlery knife.

I bought this years ago off of ebay when no one knew what it was. Yes it has a broken blade, but for $9.99 including shipping. I gotta deal. I wouldn't part with it for ten times that now. I also have a Binns and Mason stamped Pittsburgh CUtlery as well. Again transition knife as I said before.

I have to show off my Birthday present from my lovely wife. She has been holding on to this until today. A pearl handled Union Cutlery Tidioute. This congress is in excellent condtion and the only Union Cutlery Tidioute that I own. She is a treasure for sure. Check her out, well at least the knife

Since David deals with more esoteric brands, I sometimes forget the fact that Case knives were largely made in Pennsylvania! Once in a while, I add to a little collection of Cattle knives I have. This one was so good, I couldn't pass it up, and luckily didn't get outbid! ca. 1960 I believe.

Here is an oldie from PA.

It`s a two bladed curved jack.

Tang stamped: Union Razor Co.

Reverse: Tidioute

Worm groove bone, nickle silver shield, steel liners and bolsters. A well made knife with attractive bone handles.

Found this one in that "Junk" box of knives I recently bought, same box that Empire came out of. Not in bad condition for a 100 year old knife, still has strong snap and no cracks or chips in the bone. A real Survivor

I have a couple allegedly made in or around Bradleyville PA
Not real old or nuthin' but that's where they's from.
One is a Stockman, other one some kinda Jack knife.

Email on its way on the that sweet Union Razor. Fran, you know me to well. LOL I got one for you Fran if this one ends up in my collection.

I would like to see more info on that Bradlyville, PA knife as well NOt familar with that one?

ill get more scanned up.this scanner is actually fun.easy!only thing is lots of marks you see are from scanner.plus these blades
still shine and scan doesnt show that.scanning though i have realized shows more details in somethings that cameras cant.

anyway below is a a queen bird and trout set in what is called
a piggyback sheath.if someone knows or not if queen made sheaths in house or not let me know.i ask only because it looks alot like
a western made sheath.regardless this sheath is tough.
you could still hunt with this set!!

Waitin' for my knives from the Easton show, which I shipped to myself is getting boring, but I received a nice one from a friend in Texas yesterday. Pennsylvania born and raised, it has been to Texas, and now to the Pacific Northwest. If only it could talk!! It certainly received first class treatment!! As mint as they come (probably with a little light cleaning - sigh).
A 6245 single spring pen (or double-end Jack?), it has nicely matched quintessential Greenbone handles. One of my favorite patterns, it seems the 45 pattern can vary from 3 5/8 to 3 3/4 inches long. This one is 3 3/4", so more rightly is a Jack, rather than a Pen, IMO.

Hay Charlie, that is a old XX maybe first year or so.

Upnorth that 6245 is very nice! I agree with stockman about it being an early XX knife with it having the Tested shield. Very nice example of a Case XX era knife. I wasn't aware of the length differences with the 45 pattern. I'll write that as a note in my book. Congrats on catching that one.
