jerryd6818 wrote: Mon Nov 18, 2019 10:17 pm It is soooo tempting. It's just because of the shield that I want it.
I love that shield too. My wife hates the shield. I would really be interested to know if other women hate the shield too?
Same story here. I don’t know why I continue to tilt my phone screen to my wife and say “look at this knife”. Because of course she is not at all interested.

But she certainly did make the effort to let me know that she DOES NOT APPROVE of the wrench shield. Shrug.
Glad to know my wife isn’t the only one. I tilt my iPad toward her and sometimes take it to her to show her a knife. I have to preface my my remarks with “get ready to feign interest”. I started saying that to my office staff also when I brought in my latest acquisition, when I was working that is.
I wonder why some women hate this shield?

Yes, women are a head scratcher for sure …. ::doh::
I agree wholeheartedly with you fellars, I think this shield is the best GEC has ever put out, on one of the best looking patterns they've put out.
Same story with my mom and my new GEC #61 green bone that just arrived. I plod over to her sittin' at the dinner table, reading a book, open up the blades so it looks good and say hey mom look at my new knife. Slowly she lifts and turns her head, takes one quick glance, turns her head back to reading that book, and says "buzz off, I've seen enough knives already" …. ::uc:: ::shrug:: .
Women, you'll never understand them …. Showed it to my dad and bro and they both agreed that it is a great knife ….

I have a pre-order GEC#86 Oily Creek bone knife come in tomorrow. I am getting a "cherry picked" darkest bone with white edges. I bought another #86 oily creek bone knife with a GEC tube popper/blade pick. These large jack #86 knives are a true blessing from GEC. I think the #86 is the best run of the 2019 year. I did not realize that these knives were so beefy. I got 3 SFO pre-orders. I hope I can score some floating around next month. These knives are selling like hot cakes.

This Bloodwood SFO is not selling out as quickly has the previously released 86's. I think the wrench shield helped the other 86's sell quickly.

Thanks for the heads up. ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu:: Unfortunately due to my spending on knives this year, have to pull my head in, and cannot afford one. But the great thing about AAPK is the help that you receive. So thanks again, and you have a good weekend. ::handshake::

The Bloodwoods sold out in one hour ,six minutes on the dot. Mr. Barry sold many pre-orders. The pre-orders were $6 more than the last hour buys. Most collectors did not even know what was happening. Everybody kept their mouths shut before the bidding start. After the bidding start every group and forum was notified. 2/3rds by me , after I got my order in. I was notified by Mr. Barry about 4/5 hours before the bidding. I have been clobbered by SFO AND KNIVESSHIPFREE purchasing. I am so thankful that I snagged one.

I wasn't planning on getting one of these as I generally don't care for acrylic but I may change my mind, they are looking pretty nice.

So far there is only 1 post showing the 86 with Bloodwood handles. I would like to know if those who have one like it as much as the 86 with the 'Oily Bone' handles. Is the Bloodwood a little slimmer ? any lighter or same weight ?

I got out the 3 different handle materials I have so far and the Oily Creek bone is heavier than either the Sucker Rod Wood or the Bloodwood. It’s also 1/16” wider than either of the others. This picture captures it a bit, can’t really see the full difference in width due to the angle of the lens. But I measured it and 1/16th is the difference. In hand I would say that either of the wood handles feels better than the Oily Creek Bone due to difference in weight and the slickness of the bone handles. Just my opinion.

Thanks Mark. The Bloodwood looks to be a bit thinner which i think is good. I have one coming and hope that the handle edges are rounded(radiused) to the liners. Makes for a much better in hand feel than right angle edges.
