Thank you Jason. Wish I could find a shield to replace the missing one. I have a bag of Craftsman shields, but they are too big.

Here are two I got recently. The Stag premium stockman is from the 1930's and is stamped Sta Sharp SR&CO (Sears Roebuck and Co) and No 7066 on the back of the master blade. The little agate celluloid is marked Craftsman USA. ____Dave

Two nice stockmen, but that stag knife is dyn-o-mite!

The stag stockman is very interesting as well as lovely. I have to wonder if Camillus early on had exclusive rights to the STA-SHARP copyright, because that knife looks like a pre-war Ulster in every regard, but especially the master clip blade.

The stag stockman is great.

I have never before seen a "Sta-Sharp" also marked with "SR&Co". The stag looks much like that used long ago by Henckels and a few other top German manufacturers.
I have no doubt the knife is 100% all original. What i am wondering is, does "SR&Co" marking indicate a different origin than those with only "Sta-Sharp" marking ?
I would have bid hard to win that one. Luckily i did not see it.

All three blades are marked with STA SHARP SR&CO and the liners are nickel silver with coined edges. It is a beefy knife like the old Henckels, but to me the knife looks old school Camillus with the lined bolsters. I bought it from a friend that was selling off his collection.____Dave

Dave it is one of the best looking Sta-Sharp knives i have seen.

David that is an excellent knife.

This one's a little outside the box. IKAC's razor business doesn't get much attention from collectors but there are some cool items in that arena. This razor dispenser from the 40s or 50s is kind of awesome IMHO.

Interesting, I have never looked into this. Blade sleeve says "Maplewood, N.J., U.S.A." This was the location of IKACs razor-blade manufacturing facility? How can I tell it's a IKAC product?

Pictured below is what I believe to be the Craftsman "9476" version of the Schrade Walden 877.

Craftsman seems to have used this same model #9476 to refer to a different knife at another point in time. I'm calling it 9476 version 2. Second knife below (not mine):

Just landed a Craftsman STA-SHARP 9476 "version 2" knife as mentioned in the previous post. Mine isn't mint but will clean up nice.

Imperial and Sears co-owned the Vulcan Safety Razor Corp along with a fella named Arthur Tuerff. I don't know exactly how Tuerff ties in but I know he emigrated from Germany when he was a child and wound up in Camillus, NY around 1910 - so it's easy to infer how he might be linked to Baer. Arthur was the one running it. They were at 238 Burnett Ave in Maplewood, NJ. I'm trying to nail down the dates but the venture started around the end of WWII (I've seen trademarks filed as early as 1947) and may have lasted into the 1970s. They made Vulcan branded razor blades along with Craftsman and Hammer Brand. Maybe there were others but these three are the only ones I know about.

It started after Sears' head of purchasing (Dunlap) asked Baer why he wasn't making razor blades for Sears. There's a story about when it started they all agreed they weren't jumping into the project to make a bunch of money, and apparently they achieved that goal.

My contribution is a Craftsman copy of the Schrade 194OT. Got when I was still in high school back in 1971. I also have a medium stockman that I need to take a picture of.

I have a Schrade/Walden/Stainless?N.Y. U.S.A. with 876 on back tang. It is the same as pearl 877 above except with stainless (or nickle-silver ?) handles.
Master has etch "Razor Blade Stainless/Made in U.S.A."

So, those are about the same knife as the 8OT ....
OR.... the Schrade 881....

The Old Crafty name/shield was first used in 1966, so you can date that 9523 to about a 3 year window.
