Good evening everyone who happens by. It is 61* here at this time expecting a low of around 50* or so with showers early on Easter morning. I'll have to turn in a little earlier than usual as we have a sunrise service at 6:00 am. Afterwards there will be a breakfast and some events for the kids. While the kids are having their fun I am going to be doing a musical service for those who don't partake of the children's fun and games. Then we will have some other activities followed by our normal Sunday service so it will be a busy day. I hope everyone has a good night and a blessed Easter Sunday. Be safe. Rick

Good evening to all. Today was a fairly calm Easter Sunday, but boy howdy, was it chilly! 33 degrees when I woke up. Hope everyone has, or had, a great Easter!

Just dumped a mini-rant/tutorial about plastic handled Westerns in the Western forum. I get bugged every time I see one of these rehandled Westerns being sold as "rare" and presumed factory original bright plastic handles taking buyers for a wallet clearing ride.

Got a glass of JW Black goin. Picked it up at a yard sale. The guy said they were "gifts" and he doesn't drink alcohol, only beer.
Was selling them for $20 a bottle. Bought one. Almost gone. Back to my Grant's Scotch after this.

Cheers!

Good Evening, LNL!

It's a 37* night with a big, bright full moon overlooking the Missouri Ozarks. Looking at a high of 59* and clouds moving in to dump rain around bedtime tomorrow.
Have been away for a spell and hoping to get back as normal here right soon! Got a few pics I want to get shot and posted.
Getting some good catalogs in the mail! Got a big, fat thick one from Spyderco today that I am looking forward to slowly turning the pages. Got about ten more on their way!
Have a great night, folks! Peace be with you so you may rest well.

It's a chilly early morning here. Luckily the slush that fell yesterday morning didn't accumulate. The loan repayment (tax refund) continues to burn a hole in my pocket. Hope y'all are well!

Good evening everyone who comes by. I watched the Braves shut out the Marlins 3-0 a little while ago. The Braves aren't hitting the ball very well but it's early in the season. All three runs tonight were unearned. It is 67* here at this time expecting a low in the mid 50's with a high on Saturday of around 85*. Should be a nice weekend as Sunday is also supposed to be around 85. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend and be safe. Rick.

Almost time for me to go to bed. Today was largely an unproductive day, but I did get the couch (with its electric recline feature) back in commission. Also purchased a new knife! ::ds:: Rick's baseball talk inspired me to see how the Tigers are doing (better than I expected). Hope everyone has a good night!

Throwing in the towel for the night.
Had a great day today with a few purchases at a local flea market and a couple walks around the pond.
Tomorrow, an hours drive to another flea market and looking forward to that. A much bigger market and it takes a couple hours to get through it. I always enjoy it.
Keep a keen edge.

I'll be turning in for the evening soon. Spent most of the day helping the wife rearrange the living room furniture, clean the windows, and get rid of some unused items. Had a pleasant glass of bourbon afterwards.

Spending all day with the wife reminded me of how blessed I am to have her.

Shopped around for a new knife but haven't made a decision yet. I'll continue the search in the morning. Gotta mow the lawn tomorrow too if it doesn't rain. Then go back to work on Monday. Been there 32 years in July. One of these days I'll clock out and never go back.

It is a nice evening here in NW Alabama. Currently 71* headed to a low of 62 with a high for Sunday forecast at around 85*. I did manage to find three decent knives at an outdoor flea market today. A Case 2013 Muskrat with the Harley Davidson logo, looks like it is new, a Schrade USA Old Timer 34 OT that is new, and an old Kutmaster cattle knife in jigged black composite with a Coca-Cola shield in excellent condition. Good knives are getting harder to find in this area. They stopped all the shows around here right after the Covid mess hit and then they shut down our large flea market. I'm about ready to visit my good friends over at Sargent's Cutlery. They always keep a great selection of both older and new knives. I hope everyone has a good night and a great Sunday and be safe. Rick.

My bladder woke me up. Now I have to see if I can get back to sleep. BTW, not that most of you give a rip but my Cubs lost yesterday. Blanked 'em 21-0 on Saturday then fell through their anal orifice yesterday. Sheeseh.

Time to crawl back in the rack & see if I can get another 40 winks.

Just popping my head in real quick. Got a new knife in the mail this working day, so it was a good day. Vacuuming got done, too. Almost time for me to hit the rack. Y'all have a great night!

It has been a cool day here in NW Alabama. It is 54* at this time with a low of around 43* expected tonight. Blackberries are starting to bloom around here too so I guess it must be blackberry winter though I don't remember it coming this early. I haven't been finding too many knives lately but I stopped in at a local pawn shop yesterday to see if they had anything interesting. I've been going in there for years and have bought some good knives there over the years. When I walked in the lady who runs the shop said "there is the knife man." It turns out that a customer was trying to sell them a bag of knives but they weren't that interested in them. He asked if I would like to look at them and I did. There were a bunch of Chinese junkers in the bag but also about 20 or so decent knives. Most of them needed cleaned up a good bit. I wasn't really that interested but he said to make him an offer so I said $100.00 and he took it. The best knife in the bunch was a 1980 Case Mini-Trapper which looks to have never been used. There was also a Case XX folding hunter with nice dark red bone handles but the blades were badly pitted, but full. There were 5 other used Case knives in the bunch. There was also a Boker Copperhead that is in good shape but missing the shield. Overall not a great score but still not too bad once I get through cleaning them up and getting all the grime off them. At least it gives me something to do to pass the time. I hope everyone has a good night and be safe. Rick.
