Hey Unk,

I had a Citori with the 4 gauge ( 20ga, 28ga, 410ga) tube set. Shot skeet and sporting clays with it until my shoulder went South. Nice shotguns, but they have a tendency to kick due to light weight.

Here's my EDC.

Unk, I believe you will enjoy your Browning Citori - they are nicely made shotguns. Mine is a 16 gauge with 26" barrels - not designed for Sporting Clays - but it will bust 'em (and some birds too when you can get into a covey!) OH

'Stole' it off a friend of mine years ago. He had done some tuning to it, all Wilson Combat parts...

....he still begs me to sell it back to him ::sotb::

Nice Citori. ::tu:: Looks like a White Lightning? Mine is a Hunter model that will take up to 3.5" shells......a little heavier at 8 lb, 2oz, and has 28" barrels. I also stuck some extended chokes in it. I was hoping the heavier model would reduce the kick a little when shooting 50 or 100 clays (and it was cheaper!! ). Of course, that weight wouldn't be as good if you had to tote it around in the field all day.

I don't think I would want to shoot 3.5" shells out of mine, though. I will stick to the light target loads. ::nod::

Unk, if it's hammering you too hard, they used to make a recoil reducer that fit into the holes drilled into the stock. Added some weight but stayed out of sight.

I loved my Citori. Hated it when my shoulder crapped out. My shotgunning days are over pretty much now along with shooting anything that really kicks.

royal0014. My dad gave me this one. HE kept it beside his bed ever since he bought it in '94. He's 88 now and says it kicks too damn much, so he's gonna keep his 9's and 380's handy.

This puppy goes pretty much everywhere I go these days. ;)

Yes, the condition is outstanding, I got lucky, the nickle finish is nice and the pearl handles do not have any cracks or chips :D

IF I remember right, they were sweated on with solder as well. That is an '03 Springfield rear sight. That sight was "battle sighted at 550 yds with all the stuff in the layed down position.

The US had riflemen back then. ;)

Thanks Unk, it is a White Lightning; my wife gave it to me for Valentine Day a couple of years ago. I have shot SC with it, but 75 rounds is all I enjoy if wearing a T-shirt or polo shirt. Your 12 gauge will serve you well for SC - but I would sure hate to fire a 3-1/2" load in it! OH

Thanks, Willie. I will have to shoot it first and see how much kick she has. I will figure out something to make it tolerable.

Ordered one of the Henry AR-7 U.S. Survival Model .22LR's in Camo, should arrive next week and make an excellent little break-down pack gun at only 3.5lb.

Price was $330.....kinda high for such a simple gun, but hard to go wrong with anything from Henry imo.
The 'Black' model is only $260.

Not a high price for a gun that your life depends on depending on your habits, situation, use needs and intent. I personally have no problem dropping that amount on a Henry even though I might find an alternative for 1/3 or 1/2 the price. Personally don't look for the bargain alternative when buying guns myself but to each his own.

I like to travel into places where the wireless world is 50 miles away so a cell phone is not going to save you. Even with cell service, some areas I go a few times a year outside hunting season, would take emergency services and police an hour to two to get there, not minutes. So, you are on your own for immiediate help, god forbid you get in that spot.

Within the next couple weeks I will head out into the desert with the dogs. They are the first line of defense for sure. Always carry a sidearm, probably the SIG P226 and the S&W Governor for the hand shotgun needs like snakes, etc. Always have an AR or the Mini-14 handy also. Most of the activity will be around camp be we do venture out abit on foot and in the Jeep Rubicon. Coyote packs, pumas and now the wild dog packs are not uncommon to run across. Due to the economy or whatever, some perviously domesticated dogs have now formed packs and become feral/wild in my area. One person was killed or severly maimed recently due to this, can't locate the article now. Not going to stop doing what I love to do so I go prepared.

Point being although some time to assemble before firing, seems like the perfect backup rifle to me. Please post some info on when you have a chance to use the Henry. I could see picking up one or two in the near future.

Regards, Jerry

I don't see one in .22Mag, too bad.....would make it even better, even if slightly more expensive for plinking.

The Springfield Armory M6 is available in .22Mag/.410 combo. Would be a very nice gun to own imo.

Jerry, I agree completely with what you are saying about a quality gun in a remote location, in which I find myself quite often. Not bear protection or anything but would sure be handy if I guy got turned around for a day or three..... ::nod::

Trevor -- That's too cool for school. I thought I remembered them being made by someone other than Henry and after a little searching, found this. Armalite is the one that was stuck in the back of my head.

"The AR-7 was originally designed in 1959 by Gene Stoner of ArmaLite in response to the United States Air Force's need for a compact survival rifle. Following a period of production exclusively for the military, the AR-7 was introduced to the public market. It was featured in the early James Bond movie From Russia With Love, as well as other films.

Charter Arms acquired the rifle from ArmaLite in 1973, marketing it throughout the world. In 1990, Survival Arms, Inc. purchased the company and manufactured the rifle with engineering and material improvements, including the introduction of the sporterized AR-20."

Great links Trevor and JerryD! I like the guns on the link alot. Really like the .22 and .410 combo Trevor posted. Just a big believer in the whole "Rather have it and not need it than need and not have it" train of thought. Some people may think I am over prepared but not paranoid. Point being not much comes up that I don't have a fix for based on this.
Thanks for the links Gents! Regards, Jerry
