That's ridiculous. Almost certainly due to an overzealous and/or uninformed customs official. At least that big ol' honkin' folder made its way to you okay.

There is no other way to describe the Customs situation here Dan than RIDICULOUS!!! I agree that the initial inspection was done by an uninformed rookie agent, but even after appeal they still found the 2 knives were able to be "flicked" open thus classifying them as "Gravity" knives. The entire knife import industry is affected by these idiots, who I have no doubt whatsoever take seized knives and add them to their personal collections, but who has the time, money, and energy to fight the government. Ces' la vie!

Thanks for your encouraging words J.P., and the comments on my knife. I'm happy I received the big Frost, but there was a really nice Rigid and a beautiful AGR 1-hander also in the package, and those two will go directly into the inspecting agent's personal knife collection, or actually get destroyed, which is a crying shame. Just gotta put it behind me and carry-on!(No pun intended!)

Thank you Kerry. I'm understanding more and more all the time why some of these anti-government groups get started, one can only take so much abuse before you start fighting back.

Marco, the bone handle is regular brown bone. Giraffe would have been nice, but I am content with this.

I've been waiting 32 days for my last 3 of 25 knives I've bought or received through Mark at SSk over the past few months, and after more Customs B.S. they finally got here! I'll post one-a-day over the next 3 days. First up is a 7 3/8" oal Puma Medici swinguard lockback/SS dagger blade with n/n, NS bolsters and guards, brass liners and pins, and beautiful genuine stag covers. Has a comfortable weight of about 3.1 oz.'s, and arrived extremely sharp. It shows Puma markings, and was built in Germany. I have admired these knives for quite some time, and now finally own one. There are builders who convert these to automatics, and it amazes me how they got the firing mechanism under that skinny little cover!

That is a terrific knife, Marc. The stag looks amazing!

Thanks a bunch Dan! In the original pictures of that knife the stag covers appeared to be mismatched, but once in-hand they look very similar.

You'll see some beautiful knives! Please show us some of what you have!

This is the 2nd of 3 I received recently from Mark at SSk, and it's the one-and-only GEC I own! It's an 8 1/4"oal Tideout Beavertail slip-joint linerlock/carbon steel drop-point blade with n/n, NS bolsters, brass liners and pins, and beautiful jigged Cherry wood covers with beaver shield. Weighs-in at about 5 oz.'s, and came very sharp. Has GEC markings and was built in the good ole' USA. Fit n' finish is superb, and the walk n' talk is tight and loud. It almost seems like GEC used the linerlock as an afterthought, because the pull on this knife is a 10+, and it would be next to impossible to close this knife without the use of 2 hands, so the slip-joint action is more than adequate for opening/closing. I couldn't understand all the fuss being made about GEC knives, but after handling and closely examining my new knife it's become crystal clear what the attraction is.

Marco, that is one big chunk of craftsmanship. Impressive. Sorry about the stiff opening.

Thanks Garry. It sure is a solid knife which helps explain the attraction to these GEC's. As for the opening, I had to REALLY grip the nic hard in order to pull it from the channel, but after a couple drops of Quick Release it smoothed out to a more manageable pull. But if I ever forget to move my fingers when closing, I will definitely lose the tips!

Thanks Smitty. The Cherry wood covers feel nice n' warm in your hand, and the beaver shield is just plain ole' cool. You've been posting some very nice one's too, but I need to play catch-up with my comments. Sorry I've been lagging behind, I've been tied-up with other stuff for a few days, but it's all cleared-up now so I'll get back into action.
