I finally got in my first XC skiing since I bought this equipment in 2015. In 2015 we had 3 snow storms for testing it out, I got in a good several days that year and not enough snow ever since. Well today I finally got to do some touring around the farm and it was a great workout.

Man, what a view.

Glad you enjoy it. Turned out alright for 50 mph in a moving truck with window rolled up.
My place is to right of picture about a mile or so from the mountains. The Sonoma Mountain Range in Northern Nevada.

Some great pictures of the snow. That stuff is as strange as a $3 bill to me. Lived in Florida and only been in snow a few times in my almost 3/4 century. The game camera pictures from the same spot show snow and no snow were interesting. Thank y'all for sharing them with us.

I have a little tale of woe to share with y'all concerning deer hunting today. Tomorrow is the last day of Florida's deer hunting for the '20-'21 season. The last 7 days are restricted to primitive weapons, bows, crossbows and muzzle loaders. I've not had a real good year this year, only killed two bucks so I was trying to put another in the freezer. Granted I don't go at it like I once did but a good buck still makes the old heart beat a bit faster. We hadn't hunted on the lease but a few times this year but I kept a feeder and a camera going. There are several good bucks still on that piece but the other day I noticed a buck with one antler. I couldn't tell if he had shed one or had it broken off. I got a several of pictures of him recently. Here he is: Here is another buck, antler shape is totally different:
This maybe him earlier: This morning I was sitting in the small stand by 5:45, it was very foggy. A lone doe came out and wandered around the clay pit where the camera and feeder is located. She left after about 10 minutes. I had planned to stay put until 8:00 and then head for the house. Sittin' in the stand on an old chair and boat cushion got my backside kinda sore, so around 7:55 I called Miss Joy and told her I would be on my way home in a few minutes. I had a piece of a bag of shelled corn in the truck that I wanted to pour out so I left my gear in the stand and walked down the road to the truck. Just as I drove up to the stand I saw a big white tail heading straight away from me with one white antler on the right side. He was in high gear headin' for the other side of the pit. If I had just sat like I had planned, til 8:00 I might have had a crack at him. This afternoon one deer came out, I thought it was a doe. Looking with the binoculars I could see tiny little spikes maybe 2" long.
This how it looked the other morning from the inside of the stand: I killed my 1st deer 55 years ago and for the last several years at the end of the season I've been wonderin' if this will be my last time in the deer woods? None of us is promised tomorrow but Lord willing I'm looking forward to next Thanksgiving Day, to see our family and take one of the grandsons to the deer woods.

Enjoyed your story Phil, glad you got another season under your belt (missed opportunity at a shot or not). Funny thing about a few that got away - I can see them like it was yesterday in my minds eye - to a great extent they are still trophies because I’ve never forgotten them (yet!). OH

I hope you have many more hunts in you, Treefarmer!

Nice story Philip.. Ya know.. If ya was sitting on the couch you would not have had memories to cherish!!!

Thanks Floyd! In fact, the fishing was pretty good and I caught about 20 fish. They weren't any trophies and I didn't take pictures. And I can't take pictures of the total catch, because I release them immediately.

This is a Balkan mountain, on which the peninsula is named. From the place where I am in the picture is about 20-30 km. It is not very high, the highest peak is 2400 m, but it is very steep and difficult for tourism. Tourists die every winter.

Eastern Europe has some beautiful mountain ranges....there was a man from Alabama that had a web page of his travels over there he ended up getting married over there and buying a piece of land in a little place in Romania if I rember rite...he was called Round the World Doug...last I knew he would go there in the warm weather and had it set up for people traveling on motorcycles to rest up from the road and do bike repairs like a bed and breakfest for people on 2 wheels
