Well, you must have inspired me! After posting this, and a good Sunday afternoon nap, my middle boy and I did two miles on the country roads around the house right before dark. it wasn’t a big ride, but we did have 34’ of elevation change so it wasn’t exactly flat...... small steps.

That's how we do it brother!
Slowly and steadily, increase the strength. And little by little, you'll eventually hit that 100k mark.
Happened to me last spring.
Spent all winter before last, working out on the treadmill. And when the time came, I did just over 6 hours in the saddle, one early May, glorious spring day.


But that twas December, January, February, March, & Aprils worth of medium training.
Imagine what I guy could accomplish, riding just 1 hour after supper, everyday, no matter the weather.

Your clear streams make me envious.

Coming from a region with clear water, I always thought water should be clear unless it was flooding in the springtime. When I was stationed in Millington Tennessee went out once with a Major's daughter. She said, "Let's go swimming at the lake." I said "sure." I knew there was a like where everybody swam on the base, but I have not been there. When we got there I couldn't believe that people were swimming in such a mud hole! We have cleaner water than that in Oregon even during the rainy season usually.
It didn't look to me like any place I wanted to swim!. I don't know if we did go swimming or not, it wasn't a really memorable date, the two things I remember was her 52 chevy which was the same as my first car and the muddy water.
Besides no PFC in his right mind would date a Major's daughter!

Nice photos, Jmh. Some of the small rivers and streams in my area are clear. Tea colored, but clear. The bigger rivers are always muddy.

Spring is at it's peak along the Gulf Coast. All kinds of wildflowers blooming, like this Lyre-leaf Sage in my back yard.

I have a little Gold fish pond in my garden. Today, when I fed the fish (only two, due to raccoons) I noticed that there is a good crop of tadpoles. They like fish food!

Welp fellow outdoors men & brothers;
Even thou April was a short month as to weather, did manage to get in 16 miles of gravel wheels spinning, on mountain nobbies.


So far I'm in 2 short 'un's this May, before blowing out rear tube.
I guess it's time to swap-out to proper gravel tires (XC rubber too pliable), give her a complete clean down, bleed the brakes, cut down the bars a bit, fix my derailleur clutch (she's also broken... ), and retention the spokes on both wheels.

Yup,
Cycling is just as, even more maintenance consuming then motorcycle ownership, and far more then cars.
Especially when 1 good piece of rubber costs anywhere from $50, to over $150 a pop.
I guess we leg spinners are a snobby bunch when it comes to are kit....


Welp, nuff complaining bout it, wouldn't quit if I had the choice (same thing with guitar & knives).

Had my first porcupine sighting on the mountain at the farm today, glad I was ATVing and not walking the dogs. This feller was about the size of a basketball. I thought they lived in and off of pine? We have very limited pine on the mountain.

Spent about 8 hours driving and fishing in the Northern Nevada desert today.
Caught some trout and bass. No pics due to catch and release.

On the way to Kings River Valley to visit Thacker Pond. Drive was a dirt road through the mountains from the reservoir to the pond. The desert wildflower were beautiful and abundant. The hillsides had thousands of those daisies bunched together in areas. The pond yielded some trout and bass off lures...
