Rat snakes a lot better than copper heads....

Redrider, I seem to see the copperheads around dusk, until around 11 pm. I am in bed after that, so I don't know if they are still moving around. I expect so. I rarely see them in the daytime. The rat snakes seem to start moving around about the same time.

The one I saw last night was on my patio tonight, under my grill. I moved the grill a bit to try to get a pic of him, and I guess I disturbed him - he let out his skunk smell and crawled behind the lemon tree. I took this pic at 11:03 pm.

Close of camp always ends with hobo meals and watermelon!!

Looks like a delicious fun time, Scott. I roast my corn on the grill the same way.

If you can get those young men to eat cooked carrots, Scott you have accomplished a major feat. That is a good looking crew.

This is far from the flooding that rocked Germany and parts of Europe a few weeks ago, but the stream close by my place actually rages pretty hard after a Summer downpour. Including some before and after the storm pictures from yesterday, just about 24 hours ago. The chain link fence damage happened after a real gully washer a couple years ago, right after a bunch of work was done to make the trail better. I think the City recently alloted $3 Mil to fix the trail and some structurally unsound bridges from that storm. When potential flood warnings are posted, they're not joking, so if you're hiking take it seriously.

Back from another great camp trip with one of my daughters Millie, took a few knives used my khukuri a lot as wanted to try out the new kydex sheath set up i made last week

Looks like a great time Paul. Great that you didn’t let a little rain ruin your fun with your daughter. The weather is part of being outdoors! Making memories.

We were privileged to watch this river otter family for a while when we were in Seattle earlier this summer. Fun and fantastic to watch.

Nice pictures, Floyd, Otters are always entertaining.

KOOOOL !! My wife would go nuts if she got to watch an Otter!!! Thanks for sharing Floyd.

Thanks Ike and jmh. It is a fresh water creek that empties into the sound. It is also a public park and I was amazed the number of folks who walked by and never noticed. We watched them about 15 minutes altogether. It was certainly a pleasure. My pics don't do them justice.

Can't beat the otters, but found this photo that i thought was appropriate for the outdoorsman thread. A great photo of a deer in Tasmania, they are regarded as feral pests here.

I know I'm not a very good photographer, but I try. I was outside trying to take a picture of the moon and as I snapped a series of shots I got the two pic's below. The first one is just the moon, but in the second one you can see further in the distance lightening in the clouds and at the bottom right you see cloud to ground lightening strike.
