You had me going for a minute! Rocky, Rocky, Rocky? I was lookin' for a dog going with you. Then I saw Rocky, I know ol' Rocky. Yeah ol' Rocky stayed at Starvation Plantation several years ago. He was quite a traveler!
Looks like a promising project, 16 foot 2X4s are like gold around here.

Archery season kicked off last Saturday, I don't do the "stick & string" thing so like always, we're waiting for Thanksgiving Day. Once in awhile we down one on Thanksgiving but it's usually on over in the new year when our rut is happening and the bucks get dumb Treefarmer.

Sounds like you're a bit farther south than us treefarmer.
Things get cranking around hollween on through mid Nov. here. (Missouri)
So the grind is basically here. Lots of time in trees

Yes sir, we are a bit further south than Missouri. We are seeing a few small rubs but no scrapes will be found for another couple of months. Florida has probably the most interesting rut dates of any state. We are in the Central Panhandle, our rut will start in the middle of January and run through March. Down in the Glades, the south end of the state, the rut is in July and August. Archery season started July 31 this year in that part of the state. Our season in the Panhandle ends on February 27, 2022. These dates are set by the Game &Fish Commission based on game biologist's observations. There is a small area between Tampa and Orlando that also has a late Jan. rut and the season dates are adjusted for that area.
If a feller had the time and money he could deer hunt for 7 months here in Florida. The bag limit changed several years ago, it used to be 2 bucks per day, 4 in possession. We took that to mean 4 not processed and in the freezer. Now it's 5 per season, all 5 bucks or 2 does and 3 bucks, 1 doe and 4 bucks, whatever. Antler restrictions in the 4 zones of the state vary.

Thanks guys , was a great time as always, I could happily spend the rest of my days out in the woods, lol yeah dog attack me and Soul play fight a lot and it looks like he is bitting my arm but there is no pressure, it's just playing he is well trained, he hasn't walked on a lead since he was 1yrs old, he is nearly 10 now

So many aspects of life are given little thought because they are so common. That two radically different species, in this case dog and human, can respect, love, and communicate with each other is surely one of life's great mysteries.

The bond is defantly very strong , and there love and loyalty is nothing like humans, we have a lot to learn from dogs, I'll hate leaving him at the vets on monday as I know he will be stressed as he never leaves my side , my last dog Tolkien a deer hound died in my arms at the ripe age of 17 , he barked at 2am , I went down and layed on the lounge floor with him, I had my hand on his chest, he was looking straight at me, his heart stopped at 5am , he was still looking at me , I wish they lived for longer but you have to enjoy there affection and loyalty and friendship till the end and give them yours .

Thanks Ike. The trail crossed the tracks. I have hiked that trail a half dozen times and that’s the first time I ran into a train. I was close and it was a bit scary!! Never relized how fast and big they are.

That reminds me of walking the tracks with my brother and a friend many years ago. We would walk back to an old abandoned lake to fish, the tracks was the best way to get there. There was/is a trestle there. On one of our trips to the lake, we decided to hang out on the trestle as the train went by. We scrambled up there as it was coming, and hunkered down on on the end of a concrete support, just enough room for such shenanigans, inches from a fast moving freight on one side and looking down into the water on the other side. What a rush that was for a boy. I was definitely hooked on trains after that!

Off to Wyoming for a few days
