Taking my grandson out for lunch tomorrow and then out to my buddy's place to crank off a few rounds (his birthday is Tuesday). The only .22 ammo I could find was sub-sonics at Gander Mountian and they wanted $10 a box (of 50) for them.
I was complaining to my ex-sister-in-law (and long time friend) so she shows up yesterday on her way to work with these.

Her husband donated them. Bless his heart.

Never heard of it. when I googled it, some really diverse opinions you might say as far as accuracy and cycling. Probably best for a bolt action. let us know when you get a chance to shoot them.
Here is a link to some opinions....

Very gracious of him Jerry! Sounds like a good time with your grandson. Mine ia almost 5 so not too much longer before I can enjoy a outing like that.
Snapped a few pics of our county gun range today. Really nice faciltity 10 minutes form the house. Best part is that it is FREE!!! No range master but everyone is nice and works it out. Not bad considering my property taxes paid for it and they are DIRT CHEAP!
Shotgun range with clay pigeon throwers. 25 yard range. Two 50 yard ranges. 100 yard range and a 200, 300 and 400 yard range. All ranges have nice tables with seats and some shade covers. Most have steel swinging plates or gongs. All have nice target hangers and broom and dustpans to sweep up brass. Building for hunter safety and CCW training. Of course, restrooms also.
Pretty view also...
Click and double click to enlarge pics.

Thanks Mark my friend. Gald to hear from you. Long time no talk. It is a nice shooting facility. Took those pics from the edge of the county dump, no cost there either. Yea taxes suck especially when the idiots that are in charge of them, spend on irrelevant things.
Very fortunate in the property tax area here. The county is about 9600 square miles. Roughly 16,000 people in the county and about 9000 in town. Calculates out to 2 people average per square mile due to some HUGE ranches. One ranch so big, the Dufferena Ranch (now like one million acres I believe after giving some away) the owner had enough land to generously donate 550,000 acres to the US Fish And Wildlife Service to create Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge (neat web lookup). Some beautiful area with lots of wildlife with Bighorn Sheep, wild burros and horses, deer, antelope, grouse and other upland birds, etc, excellent Bass, Crappie and other pan fish in numerous ponds, some lakes with what some would call trophy trout, natural hot springs, etc around the Denio, NV area, population 140 I think.
For the 1-1/2 acres and the house we have in town, less than 900 bucks property taxes per year. Not living in a mansion but not a shack either.
On another note, Looking forward to upland bird and migratory opening in a two weeks...
Regards, Jerry

Anyone shoot these round??
They have been the best standard velocity per dollar ammo for many years. Most NRA Conventional Pistol shooters use them around here. They are hard to beat, for accuracy as well as function, and they are easy on the target pistols. A lot of rifle shooters use them for practice, then switch to high priced stuff for matches. I hate those new 50rd boxes though.....

I particulary like the look on that full stocked Sako. Think that's called a Manlicher stock. Or am I confused? But all look splendid.

Thanks QS.
You are correct it is a Manlicher stock.
I have a CZ with a Manlicher stock as well. I like it, it's not something you see in the woods all the time.

Exactly. I find so many perfectly fine firearms (especially handguns) boring because they look alike. From a distance there is nothing disctinctive about all the black polymer guns. The Manlicher stock is appealing to me precisely because it is not often encountered and, to my eyes, has handsome lines. I suppose the extra weight may be an issue for some. But then it offers more protection to the barrel.

Great to see you and your wife enjoying a fun sport together, I've tried to get my wife to shoot with me, but no such luck. She hates guns.....
She'll go fishing with me and we enjoy camping a lot.
Keep having fun Bluedog.

Ranger: Just curious if your wife is using a Ruger SP 101. Caliber? No doubt at all about what you are carrying!

She has a Smith & Wesson airweight 642 in .38 special. She carries +P 135 grain Speer gold dot hollowpoints, but I loaded up 1000 rounds of cheap stuff to practice with (same bullet weight).
Cam, I am blessed to have her. She's put up with my nonsense for 29 years. It's cool your wife will camp and fish with you too. My wife will hike all day with me, but she doesn't like sleeping too far from a bathroom with running water. She grew up a city girl, and when we first got married she was anti-gun because her brother was killed not too long before that.
After we had
kids, I would often come home from traveling to find my gun on the night stand. I finally told her "if you're gonna keep getting scared and pulling that gun out, you're gonna have to learn how to use it."
She did. And now she enjoys the hobby ALMOST as much as I do.

Camillus, How do you like the Kimber 22 Target. Is that a 22 conversion kit or did Kimber make a 1911 22? I know that the conversion kits are almost as expensive as buying a 22 pistol. I have been looking at the browning 1911 22's they feel good and looks like they are well made the only draw back to me is they are smaller than the standard 1911's.
