This is the 3rd in a 4-pack of folders I recently received, and it's another Cold Steel giant! It's their 13 1/8" oal "Counter Point XL" mid-lockback/an AUS 10A bayonet blade with dual-studs, ZY-EX 2-piece body with through holes, no liners, screw construction, adjustable pivot, and pocket-clip. Weighs in at about 8 oz.'s, and came so sharp that when the blade dropped on my knuckle when I needed 2 hands to press the mid-lock to close it, it produced a nasty cut, so much so that after 3 days it seems to have finally stopped bleeding. It likely needs stitches, but that's not gonna happen. My own fault, not the knife's, I really should be more careful. This is another C/S model that's next to impossible to open using just the stud, unless of course one was born with very large hands. The mid-lock came extremely tight, hence needing 2 thumbs to press it down and producing said cut, and even after a drop of Quick Release it is still quite tight. Fortunately I've learned how to use it properly with out injuring myself. I have one last big C/S folder that I'll post tomorrow!

Another nice one Marc. Yep.....you got to watch the critters that will bite. You may try opening the blade, oil the joint and back/lock spring, then with a cloth wrapped around the blade, work the lock and the blade back and forth several times. I bought a Buck 110 several years ago that had a tight spine lock and blade. Did that procedure about 40 or 50 times. Flush with some WD-40, then re-oiled the joints and spine. It did loosen up. Not sure if it was just a very tight tolerance or if there may have been some residue inside left from the manufacturing process.

Yah, thanks Smitty. I applied Q.R. oil and that loosened it considerably, but I believe the knife was designed with "a very tight tolerance" due to the thickness of the spine lock and big heavy blade, and I'm almost certain 1-handed opening/closing wasn't a big priority when designing it. Thanks for the suggestion!

This was the very first C/S big knife that caught my attention, and after seeing it online I went to their site and watched some abuse videos. They sliced right through a thick loose-hanging rope, a side of beef, and punctured 10 layers of thick cardboard before doing the standard paper slicing test with complete success. I was sold! This was about a year ago, but it wasn't until recently that I was able to buy it here in Canada without fear of losing it to Customs due to the flippers and "flick" aspect. I have more knives on the way so keep an eye on this thread should you wish to view them! P.S.-I was searching online for reviews of an old supplier I use to buy knives from, and there was a link leading directly to this thread, "Comfort Knives"! Made me feel kindda important, although it doesn't take much to amuse me! LOL!

Received 3 more beauties today and as per to my prior posts I'll post one-a-day! All 3 models were handmade in Italy by M. Fraracco. The first is a 7 3/4" oal Siciliano style slip-joint/SS dagger blade with n/n, SS bolsters liners and pins, and really nice buffalo horn covers with white streaks. Kindda light for my liking at only 2.4 oz.'s but I'll learn to live with it, and it's another one that arrived shaving-sharp. Marked only with the builders stamp and "INOX". Fairly tight w+t of about 7, and a virtually perfect f+f. I've wanted this style knife in an automatic for awhile, but this'll certainly do until that happens. I'm in some serious "comfort" today! Check back tomorrow to view the 2nd one!

Good looking knife Marc! Buffalo horn always give a classy look. Me thinks with the slim design of the handles it would be easy to gain a good grip to do a one handed flip, depending on how stiff the spring is.

Thanks so much Smitty! My pics don't show it but the covers are a bit swollen in the center so it provides excellent grip. The knife has nothing but the nic, no stud, no flipper, no A/O so 2 hands are definitely required to open it, but even if it did have any of those it would still be impossible to flip open due to an extremely strong spring.

I don't know where you viewed this knife, but the store that I bought all of mine is on ebay, "ilcasaledelsole2016", although I've never been able to figure out how to find a specific seller on ebay, perhaps you know how to? If not, try searching "Handmade Italian knives", or "shell-puller knives", or "Sciciliano style knives", and some of theirs should come up. They have the knife in your pic in about a 9" model, as well as a model about 12 1/2" in similar cover materials. I can't tell you how many times I've had the 2 on my "Watchlist" only to be bumped for something else I liked. Maybe someday yet!
