Currently 1/2 through S.C. Gwynne, HYMNS of the REPUBLIC. A really interesting and different slant on the final year of our Civil War. copyright 2019. 325 pages. Very well researched and written. J.O'.

Reading "The Path Between the Seas" by David McCullough published in 1977. The history of the creation of the Panama Canal from 1870 to 1914. An amazing story.

That is an enjoyable series BH.

This was under the tree this morning. Settling down to read it now.

Good to see this thread getting a reboot, and compliments of the season to all who visit the reading thread. I shouted myself a book on the History of rail in the state where i live from the 50's - 70's, my favourite era, it was my Christmas present to myself. Lost my phone on Christmas day ironically, so can't post photo's till i get a new phone.

The wife got me a 2yr sub (8 issues) to this. So far, excellent read.

A Christmas gift from my wife.

Just finished this'un. Highly recommend ole Harlan, Iff'in you enjoy a good novel.

Yes, Finland did have a short, yet very bloody, civil war not too many folks know about. Fascinating story.

That's a good one! I liked how he was able to keep a sense of humor in spite of all the terror. I think that's hiw he survived.

I will say I surprised myself by reading a book. I haven't done any continuous book reading in a while.
It was in Susan's library.
I read Jane Eyre.
What a captivating read with the most delicious old world English.
I really enjoyed it and now that I have finished it I really miss it.
