Comfort Knives!

I got caught-up with posting other knives I received recently and somehow neglected to post these two! They came along with the Siciliano style folder I posted the other day and will make nice additions to my family of M. Fraraccio hand made knives. Both knives are 11" oal(11 1/2" with the bales)slip-joints/SS spear-point blades, SS 12+16 Gauge shell-puller bolsters and brass 12+16 Gauge s-p bolsters, SS liners and bales, brass pins, and black ABS cover. Each weighs about 7 oz.'s, and arrived extremely sharp. They're marked with M.F. stamps and circled Cal. 12+16 stamped pullers. They produce very tight walk n' talk, and fit n' finish is excellent. Even after applying Q.R. oil neither knife loosened up much, although the blades are wide enough that one needn't break any nails opening them. These are quality knives that don't break the bank when purchased! The 1st knife is in SS and the 2nd in brass, even though my pics fail to display this fact!

Slick looking pair Marc. The shell pullers give them a retro touch but a overall classy look.

Smitty, they are very well made, and has pig skin inside the sheath behind the press stud to protect your knife.

Thanks mate, it has developed character over years of use and carry, but one thing i have learnt about Ironwood, it does really darken with carry, and some of it's grain just seems to disappear, though i have found a way to resurrect it to some extent.

First, this 9" oal Russian prison built swinguard lockback/SS clip-point blade with n/n for when the spring eventually fails, aluminum bolsters and guards, SS liners and pins, safety, leaf-spring fired, and black Delrin covers. Weighs 3.6 oz.'s, and came sharp. Fires hard n' fast with solid lock-up and no play. I've long admired these "prison" knives and am happy to add one to my collection!

I'm not sure they let prisoners build knives here in the USA That's a very cool knife though!

Thanks Kerry! The seller is in Russia and he claims it was built in a Russian prison. Lots of controversy about whether it's a true story or not, but it's a cool story to attach to the description.

Neat looking knife Marc. I'm like you, not sure if the whole prison made thing is legit, but a good looking knife either way.

Thanks Smitty! The detailed info I read(no, I can't remember where)states that the prisoners are encouraged to build knives so they can exchange them for cigs, candy, toiletries, etc., and if you examine some of them they certainly appear to be crudely assembled, and I kindda doubt any serious knifemaker NOT in prison would allow some of those beater knives released for the world to see. Who really knows though! The knife in my pics is very well-built, so chances are the seller just used the story to help sell the knife.

A sad day for me guys. I had to rush Elvis my cat to the vet late last night because he kept vomiting, and 1100 bones later he had to be euthanized. The vet said he had an enlarged bladder which indicated a long history of diabetes, and although POSSIBLY treatable it would be very expensive for the rest of his life, and even with the limited funds available to me immediately I wouldn't have been able to sustain treatment. He was in discomfort so it seemed like the best decision. We had 13 wonderful years together, but I'm sure hurtin' today. Probably the wrong place to post this, but I know all my AAPK friends read this thread regularly so I thought this would be a good place.

I'm posting this knife today to help keep my mind off other things, so here it is. This is an unmarked, except for an etch reading "Wolverine" on the front blade, dual-action linerlock auto that is 7 3/4" oal/SS drop-point blade with dual-studs, SS liners and screws, black checkered rubber covers, adjustable pivot, coil-spring fired, and lanyard hole. Weighs-in at about 4 oz.'s, and came to me very sharp. This knife opens either by the studs or by pressing on the front cover about 1/2 way down to initiate the automatic feature. My one-and-only(for now)hidden-release auto. I got lucky with the last 2 knives I posted as neither was inspected by Customs, a rare event.

Thank you kindly Kerry. I've heard it said that good and bad things come in 3's, and I now have 2 of them under my belt. Whatever #3 is it certainly couldn't be worse than #2. I feel a little better today but keep expecting Elvis to wander into the room for a cuddle or tummy-rub. I just read an article about feeling guilty after needing to euthanize your cat, and that along with all the condolences from you guys is helping a lot. Some folks will say "it's just a cat", but people like that most certainly aren't animal lovers. Thanks again buddy.
