Looks like a nice spot to do a little wandering. It's been pretty chilly in my neck of the woods as of late; how was the weather down in Ohio?

He said.....Poppy, can I make a knife (with wood he was holding)?
Absolutely, go ahead I replied.

How?
Lay this knife down and make an outline.

And he did make a knife and I promise you, it would hurt anything it stabbed!

Now that young man is a future knife maker. Awesome ingenuity. Using a knife to make a knife. Doesn't get any better than that. He'll never forget that experience. ::tu::

If you hadn't told me that knife was made from wood, I never would have guessed it and I never would have guessed it was made by one of your "crew". Excellent job.

What interesting terrain John. Most of the trees appear to be rather young. I'm guessing a forest fire swept thru this area maybe 10 years ago, as a guess. Or that heavy logging took place here.

Any idea what the number 39 might refer to?

Great post John.

Great post John.
Those are mileage markers Garry.. The trail is 74 miles long..
The area was decimated in the early 1900s by logging..
