🤔 I'm thinking those brown turkeys might have been someone's escaped pets.

Hello all! Hope you all are well.
I posted a couple photos in the picture of misc things thread yesterday. Subject likely belongs more fittingly here.
We got whited out and lost the defroster blower on our snowcat on trip up the mountain to refuel our generator at one of my mountain top work site.
Better weather today with crazy drifts. The drifts did not go all the way to the up hill slope. Hard to describe but I sure wasn't stopping for a Kodak moment. Basically, drifts on last 1/2 mile "walled up" about 8 feet from uphill slope. About 7 foot deep drifts, 4 foot over top of guard rail and steep cliff on the right. Slip off the left side of the drift and it was a 7 foot drop to asphalt with 1/8" of snow. Had about a 7 foot wide uneven lane on top of drift. Never seen anything like it.
Boss was in front to plow if needed. I drove/ followed in the Polaris Ranger with snow tracks.

Look on the left side of the pictures with the sun other views of same in my previous post. That is what you face if you drop off downhill side of road.

Fabulous pics zp4ja, thanks for the walk though the winter wonderland. Is this regular stuff for that part of Nevada? Looks like Tahoe, big winter with above average precipitation. Good for drought if you got it.

Thanks Garry. Will do as I have a healthy respect for risk. Also, have common sense. I will push it a bit but not to the point of getting damaged. I will say no if it doesn't feel right. Site has critical PS comms on it. Gotta go and try at least.

IMan, thanks for the compliments. We normally don't get much snow. We got 8 inches on valley floor a week ago Tuesday on valley floor. That is likely 3 feet or more .on the mountain. Depending on wind conditions, which create huge drifts on the northern face of that road, even deeper.
That said, I could get an inch at my place and a co-worker gets 4 inches 10 miles away. A few inches here and there every couple days on a north face over and over adds up.
Valley here is 4300 feet and that mountain is only 6750 feet.
The wind and wind chill on that mountain today was staggering, ar least for my taste. Not sure what it was but at one point almost got blown off the side when I did a vehicle inspection.

No trees like Tahoe but alot of frequent snow with little melt off in between this year.

We have a site at 8700 feet that is windy always that was likely like Fargo ND Temps on that mountain today.

Very few days here that have no wind.

The Polaris Ranger with tracks looks like it could be fun to drive. As Garry said, stay safe out there!

Thanks John. Hope you and yours are well also.

Doing 80 on I80 about 120 miles northeast of Reno.
Reno is 2 hours from my town. Scenic drive across the desert valley floor.
Quite relaxing when road conditions are good. Complete opposite of relaxing when they are not.

Unknown name of a range off 80...

That's insane. No thanks!
My sister has an expensive weekend home in Truckee.
All smashed. Windows, roof, you name it.
I think 60 feet of snow so far this season. So much snow, they think skiing through July. Crazy.

And that's probably resort skiing! My bud used to backcountry ski in July, he said the corn was excellent.

There's a big Texas moon out tonight.
If Charley Russell were here, he'd paint it just right.
