All About Pocket Knives

These aren't done yet, but I wanted to document the progress.....

Did most of the cutting with a carving knife and a seahorse whittler. I started to like the way they where turning out so I fired up the dremel to see if I could refine 'em a little more.

I'll probably paint the tiki - I might stain the skulls.

The only thing I ever managed to carve was my thumb.

Philco, that is a carved chain behind the skulls carving those will really test your patience, but it's neat when they get finished!

Thanks for the compliment TM. I use acrylic paints, the cheap little bottles you can find at "Michaels" and other hobby stores. I always water them down to a wash when appyling. I never use the paint straight out of the bottle except for on eyeballs and little details, like dots on a kerchief. And for the final touch, after the paint has dried, I apply "Howard's Feed-N- Wax," Superb Stuff! This stuff really makes the paint job pop! I highly recommend you get a hold of some. You could also apply it directly to the wood without painting, whichever you choose. Good Luck, lookin' forward to the finished product.

Finished! I decided to use a stain on both. I'm working on a couple of other tiki's and will paint those after they're done. Eventually I would like to do some totem poles - I think those would look good painted.
