All About Pocket Knives

Hello Ladies and Gentleman , Just wanted to say a quick hello . I have just joined AAPK , and am looking forward to meeting fellow collectors as well as enjoy reading the posts , and viewing finds by fellow collectors . I have been a collector for a good twenty years or so. I am not hardcore , but have a collection af around sixty or seventy pocket knives as well as other cutlery items such as straight razors .
I am an avid wood worker , and over a number of years have got into making wood knives . I am posting a picture of one at present . If anyone later would like to see others I have made , I will be glad to post some of them as time goes on .
With that said , I will get out of the way for more important posts . Sincerely , Lou

Hello Chris , glad you like the knife . I do not have any with springs such as you mentioned . I have quite a few others , most of them being in the two foot range . I had a friend who I lost several years ago who had made real knives for years . He was really good at what he did too , as well as taking old knives and repairing them . I was in his shop one afternoon watching him making some knives and got the idea to try and make a wood knife . It turned out pretty good . Next thing I knew I was hooked on making them . The first knife I made a Case folding hunter with just the primary blade . Looked basically like the one I posted . I have another folding hunter case two feet long just like the big one I posted , I actually like it better than the big one . Only problem with wood , is that it can be goofed a whole lot quicker and easier than steel , one slip and you goof the whole project . I form the blades by hand on a belt sander , and have more than once had one almost finished and ended up goofing it up , only to have to start all over again with another piece of wood . I enjoy it greatly though , and will be making more as time goes on . I make knife cases as well , although I have not made any for some time . I am kind of Jeckyl and Hyde , never know when I will get the urge to something else other than a knife !

Not so much the size of my pockets , its just that I have poor eye sight , and the knife is very easier to locate when needed !
