I messed up on a solder joint and didn't realize it before I mounted the handle; this one will have to be my camp knife. Each one is a learning experience!
11 1/2" overall with a 6" blade forged from 01 tool steel. Leather, Micarta and Sambar Stag handle.
I also just learned horse hide is the ticket on these handles. It's more dense and finishes out way better on the edges than cow hide.
Note to self: Clean up solder joints before mounting handle!

Very nice Gary!

It seems as you've developed into your style within a few knives. Looks GREAT! Thanks for sharing!

Better slow down Gary, or else you're liable to pass top makers with flying colors

I don't know what to say Gary.
Your mistakes look better than the best efforts of some makers I have seen!
It looks great!

Thanks for the support guys.
That 01 steel is soooooooo much easier to work with than the 52100. I don't think it will hold a edge like 52100, but I have to prove that to myself.
I don't take pictures of the goofs Dale..................lol.
I know where I went wrong on this one, the soldering is getting easier.

Gary, I don't want you to have to continually see that Horendous screwup! Everybody makes mistakes, but you shouldn't have to keep suffering from them. You know you did wrong and I forgive you. Send me the abomination and I promise I will never post a picture of it on the internet again. You have my word. Smoke

Hey I got and idea. All these knives yall aren't happy with just send them to other member and let them be the judge. Kind of like a pass a around to get everybodys opinion on what is wrong. The first person the not find anything wrong with it gets to keep the knife.

I will be first on the list everytime so lets start know. Nah just kidding. Everything that I have seen coming from your shop has looked great. As a matter of fact all the customs that anybody has been posting looks good to me. Great job again. Keep up the good work!

I hope you are going to bring a couple of your knives to the Oregon show Gary! I had no idea you were a maker. I'll be at the same table at the end of the room. Nice style! And the horsehide makes sense. I remember horsehide cordovan shoes lasting forever, in the 50s!!
