That is really nice and the filework looks great on the knife. At some point I probably should learn how to do filework but I always worry about the backsprings breaking.

How about the folowing DVD - it's available in many places including here. Fileworking with Dwayne Dushane was made in 2004.
http://www.ccinstructionalvideos.com/du ... orking.htm is a link to check it out or to purchase it. Fileworking, done properly will be just fine. Most fileworking is not deep enough to affect the backsprings. The number of patterns is unlimited.

I did a tutorial here called "how I did it" several months ago and ...it's free. Of all the filework done and displayed here someone should have experienced some breakage but don't seem to hear much/anything about it. Givr it a shot, probably a heck of a lot easier than working with stone!!![img][/img]
