Hi again this is Darci from "IronArm Knives" well my PaPa let me back in the shop after I went out and ground this knife when he wasn't at home ,not knowing this was the stuff he was going to use for some guard for a knife. OK after one month not in the shop I can't beleave he held out for one month
I tryed everything to get back in .I have a weard Mom and Pop my dad bought a sewing machine this weekend and my Mom bought a 45 colt cowboy Gun.things arn't right ,there all mixed up "LOL". Dad said he's going to teach me how to make sheaths and pay me $50,00 bucks to do each one ,Thats good but i want to make knives !! but if it will Help him I'm good with it . so here are some pic's of the knife I made. I made it for Him but i told him it fits my hand just right,he told me I should keep it for me ,being it's my first knife "THATS ALL HE HAD TO SAY " it's mine !!!!!he said I can make him another one this month . The knife is 6 1/2 long overall and it has a 3" blade and is 1/4 thick and a elk handle I think thats what he said the horn was . This was fun to make ,all but the getting kicked out of the shop for "1 WHOLE MONTH"
Thanks for reading this
Darci "IronArm Knives" I can put the IronArm knives thing next to my name NOW that i have made one "LOL"

Hi Darci. Sorry, I should have read your post a little closer, and I would have realized who it was. The swedge is the angled cut on the top edge of the blade. Nice work. ::tu::

We'd love to see some pictures of your shop. Maybe I missed it in your posts.................are you forging? Stock removal? Heat treating yourself? Iron Arm Knives, is your father the man behind the name?
Please fill us in clint, we so few knife makers on the site, we would love some details!

My kid made this knife"Darci" its her first finished blade she went into the shop and found this damascus that i was "going" to make a guard for this nice bowie i was working on you know matching the knife gaurd .and used it to make me a knife for my birthday so anyways she used the grinder without me being there and then spent one month banded from the shop. she's back now and starting to learn sheath making i got a new Artisian toro 3000 sewing machine yesterday its been a good year i've got a hyd. press two forges sewing machine and a kmg grinder all on knife"sales" money and Ironarm comes from my 10xGreatgandfather from the 800"s he was some knight and his nick-name was ironarms because he never took off his armor and i do heat treat myself and after the shop is clean i'll send some pic's ,and i want more than anything to start working on pocket knives just don't know how yet! i do want to start this year its alot derf. than fixed blades and i'm still trying to get them right

Clint,
After going back and re-reading this thread I've come to a couple of conclusions. First, Darci is a bright and very talented child. The second is that I want to commend you for the investment you've made in your shop...........not in the equipment but in Darci. You must be doing something right. ::tu::
