All About Pocket Knives

Very nice Steve. It must smell wonderful in your garden this time of year.

All of my gardening is now confined to the grounds around the old schoolhouse, and except for a perennial bed around the sign, I'm sticking to native wild flowers. I have to do without Roses. Everything must be resistant to lots of shade, the toxins from black walnut trees, rabbits, and deer.

There is much May Apple, Jack-in-the Pulpit, and Honey-Suckle in the hedgerow, and I'd like to establish Bloodroot, Echinaecia, and Beebalm on the edges. The little furry critters beat me to the Morel mushrooms again, and I had the fry pan and butter waiting.

Beautiful roses.

I can almost smell them as I sit here gazing at those wonderful photos.

Makes me think of my late grandmother who always had a variety of roses in her garden.

WOW!! Great pics!! My wife would kill to have roses like that. Unfortunately my part of TX is not conducive to growing fancy roses. The old varieties of the little roses do OK, but the big ones just don't make it with a LOT more attention than I have for 'em.

I have roses all over my place. For some reason I seem to be able to grow them.
Mine are just getting a good start. I have picked a few so far. I will have to get some pics on here too.

My wife had to come see these pictures. She has a few rosebushes but we live so close to the coast and blackspot and mildew are a bad problem. She used to live in East Texas close to the Tyler rose nurseries there. She has pictures of a beautiful bed she raised up there. Thank you for sharing AND she wants to know the name of that rose on the top picture.

Also, that old schoolhouse picture is great. I've seen a few parts of Pa. and what I saw was really pretty. My wife and I enjoy the architecture, history and just the way towns look 'back East'. Sometimes I think I'd like to live further north, but then winter comes and what I see on the news changes my mind!

Those are beautiful flowers.

I tryed to get my wifey to do something with YELLOW Roses. I spent over $150.00 on them. I think she let them die before she ever planted them. I should have known better, cuz all she can grow is plastic plants....

My wife & I were gone for the weekend to visit grandchildren in the Seattle, WA area.
While we were away a spell of hot weather really brought the roses into bloom!

Those all look great. About all my wife has time for anymore is a bleeding heart bush and a hydrengia? bush. Just 'cause they grow on their own! She works too far away to have time when she gets home to mess with a flower garden.

And I just don't like too. But, I sure do like looking at them.

We need an update to see how the roses in your garden are doing!

While the roses came on a bit late this year (in my yard), they really made up for lost time by sheer volume once they got going. Here are a few more pics of the roses in my garden.
