All About Pocket Knives

It's been awhile since I've posted last but here is my latest addition to the collection....EF&S bone handle folding knife, single blade 2.5 in., marked Enos Furness England.
How common are these? And what is an approx. value for the knife?

Thanks for the reply. I have searched the net and forum sites for this maker and have found very little after two weeks searching. It has that old barlow shape and the construction quality suggests a small firm, hand made. Only the blade is marked. The marking is very sloppy but under the microscope I can clearly see "Enos Furness", so I assume the EF&S is for Enos Furness and Son(s). I'm not familiar with English makers but I imagine this is a fairly old knife made in limited quantities or by a small manufacturer.

Goins says= "Enos Furness circa 1879-1913

E. F. & S stamped on the bolster."

They are not common. Looking at your pictures it looks like your blade was repinned at some point.

Yep, I noticed that too, which usually is a big turn-off for me, but when I opened the blade and could assume that it was from the same maker, I had to get it ($5 at auction). The snap is still hard too!

It is FURNESS, ENOCH & SONS. 1875 to 1915.

Hard to determine a value for something not real common. That is the problem for some short lived brands; they can very well made, very high quality, but zero collectibility. Certainly not high... which does not mean it is not an interesting piece.

Enos Furness on the tang stamp, ONB on the bolster. Anyone know what the ONB stands for?
