Hello everybody,

I registered last week and thought I should get around to introducing myself.... I have to say this forum is great and you all have been VERY helpful. I am a long time knife appreciator (actually obsessed with well made knives).

I tend to focus on pocket knives (in particular, scout knives, with exotic handle material when I can find them) as I am a boy scout leader and we are restricted to carrying folding knives. I also like to carry my knives on a lanyard from my belt loop so that all the scouts and adult leaders can appreciate them as well (and so they can drool over them ::drool:: ). Yes I know, it's a sickness.

Other than that, I'm a marine scientist working for a large engineering firm. A have a lovely wife and two sons as well. My oldest son just started at FSU. He received his Eagle rank in scouting this year as well.

Nice to be here!

Steve

Hi Steve,

We have already "talked" but I still want to say ::welcome:: to AAPK.

I collect scout knives myself, both the official ones and some of the unofficial as well. Below is a link to a thread you might be interested in. If you have some scout knives you'd care to show us, this would be a great place to post them so the rest of us can ::drool:: over them.

Welcome aboard. ::tu::

Thanks Phil! I did see that thread. Some really knice scout knives... I'm just starting my collection. I have a Case mammoth junior scout right now and am having a mammoth tooth scout knife made right now. On my wish list is the Boker camp knife with red stag handles. I might also ask Santa Fe Stoneworks to add fossilized dinosaur (brontosaurus leg bone) handles to a a scout knife as well, although their knives tend to be a little pricey for me.

Right know I have a very specific collecting niche (scout knives with extinct and fossilized materials). I think this has to with my occupation as a scientist and my volunteer job with the scouts. I did purchase a Boker Damascus Blade Lockback Knife a while back as the oak is 3,000 year old bog wood recovered from the bogs of Ireland. See a trend? :)
