I tried to file a line in the bolsters, but messed it all up. So all i could do then was stipple it to cover the lousy workmanship

Hey Luis..... even though its "cover" that work looks nice.
SURELY theres some techinique of securing a ***guide or fence*** to the knife for uniform filing.
I bet some of the knife craftsmen know....

thanks guys. MM, free hand is how i messed up my bolsters. But i wont give up just yet, and watch out, because in 15 or 20yrs, i'll be doing work as nice as the stuff you all post
. (i can screw up alot of 110 in that time, can't i!)

I do my all my filing freehand as well.
It does help to lay it out with a Sharpie & machinst scale first.
The end result looks good Luis, even is it is a save!
(get some of my best results that way).
Give me a call when you have time & I will tell you how I do the grooves.
I imagine MM does his a bit differently, as we both worked out our styles & techniques on opposite sides of the country.
The results are what matters.
