OMG! What was he thinking!?

I was asked to restore an old timers Case XX 6165 yesterday he was a local fellow whom I owed a favor and the whole job would take little time. He had bought the knife used long ago and it was battered then but now the back handle was missing and the pivot pin had been replaced with a nail. Luckily the snap was great so the only problemn would be to slap on some new handles so he could continue it's service. Upon disassembly of the knife after I scraped away 75 years of grease, tar and gunk and was shocked when I looked at the tang! 2 extra pivot holes! Apparently someone was not satisfied with the already bear trap snap and drilled a couple extra holes to try and increase the snap! Either that or a trainee had some fun "eyeballing" where the pivot should go
This is why I love what I do. You never know what to expect when you tear a knife down to it's main components.

First time I've seen that one. ::paranoid:: Ya just never know what you will find when tearing those old knives apart - especially if someone worked on it before you did. Nice looking knife! ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::
