All About Pocket Knives

My hand is about 70% right now. Due to the wonderful way our healthcare system works, I'm unable to get into my specialist until the end of august for my preliminary assessment. So, as I have no doctors to yell at me until then.... Time to loosed up the tendons and see if I can't get some work (slowly) done

I've had a couple knives just SITTING for months now. You have no idea how much that sucked. Anyways, just in time for the GEC open house I got two done. The first is a fantastic #26 Sleeveboard I got from Forensic Jim. It's simply done, but man, I LOVE this pattern. I think I might like it more than the #25, but we'll see.

Stabilized snakewood, filework on the massively thick backspring. Ignore the cuts on the kick. I was thinking of trying some filework on it. Since this knife is never leaving my collection, I don't really mind that I decided against it halfway in. what I have now is a )( shape on the bottom kick. no worries.










The next is a #25EO. Originally orange bone ( ) now Random Pattern "Damascus" Micarta in blue and black. I bought a sheet of this stuff, and it's great looking (It has all that texture and color banding even when completely flat). It did warp on my in the few months I had it sitting, so I had to use it in smaller pieces than I originally intended. Filework on the backspring, wonderful little cutter.








It's fantastic to be able to get some stuff done, even if it's just a little bit, and I have to work really slowly to avoid undue pain and stress. Thanks for looking, as always!

You have done your ususal fantastic job on those two. That sleveboard is about as pretty as anything I've seen you post. Very impressive looking. That snakewood and filework were made for one another IMO.
Please don't overdo it. Give your hand lots of TLC.

I know how good that feels.

I just got to the point last week where I have enough confidence in my hands that I will work on customer's knives again. I finished off about 5 repairs, I have 20 or more knives to go. Some of them involve custom work and are a lot more demanding of my hand.

Great to have you back among the customizing.

Adam, I am usually a lurker and a reader. I can't help but comment on the beauty of the filework on those examples. I'm in the need of such help, and will definitely come back to you on my next project. Jim Bush

Filework is still tough for me (especially right now). I'm just to the point now where I'm comfortable with my quasi-vine or whatever you want to call it. I have 3 displays of knives with various grades of mediocre filework, but then, it's really easy to see your own flaws I guess.

I have a really cool idea for what I'm going to do next. I think it's going to be very "high speed, low drag" based on a #25. no more hints though
