All About Pocket Knives

Can someone tell me what is the best oil for knife joints? I purchased a new knife but there's no real snap when closing the blades.Thought some oil may help. Also, has anyone heard of Krytox oil? I purchased some of this for my sone back when he was racing pinewood derby cars. It's supposed to be extremely light oil and I thought it may be good to use.

That oil even though I have never heard of it should be fine.
Find some KEL it is a silicone (100%) and flood the inner side with blades openthat will flush out any hafting material and if the springs are good they will come to life

I was curious if the KEL would be safe for the mammoth tooth handles I just had installed on the knife?

I've tried REM-OIL, it does ok.

Hope you guys don't mind me asking one more question. I got the benchmade "blue lube" cleaner. Do I need to flood the blade joints several times to litereally flush out crap or just get them wet once and let the cleaner penetrate into the joints?

No need to flood! A little of the Lube goes a long way.

Thanks Mitch! I guess I just got a bum knife (2 actually). The springs look good and appear to function well, but I get absolutely no snap on two of the blades (4 blade scout knife blank).

What really stinks is I paid a guy to put mammoth tooth handles on an identical knife blank for me and it works the same way. He ordered the blank directly from the knife company. Guess he didn't check for snap before adding the handles. Real shame cause he did such a good job on the handles......

I have been using Quick Release oil manufactured by Latama. Specifically made for folders by a custom folder maker. The maker happens to be a friend of mine, and I have to say that the oil works great. You can get it from TBarK custom knives, Mike "Tank" Fisher is the origional developer of the oil.
