Looking for someone to replace a blade on a case #5383

the third or rear blade is broken almost to the hinge, I queried case and they said that this model had changed and that they would replace it with new blades, is this the best route to go?

Doc,
It's hard to say for sure what your best option would be, especially not knowing the condition of the rest of the knife. If the knife is well used, it really won't likely have a negative impact on the value of your knife if you do have Case replace the broken blade with a new one.
On the other hand, if the knife is in excellent condition other than the broken blade, you might be better served to try and find a repairman who can replace the blade with one that matches the knife more completely. There are some excellent knife repairmen here on AAPK. The biggest issue would likely be locating an appropriately matching blade.
I bought an old Ulster jack on ebay recently. The main blade was fine, the handles were great, but the secondary pen blade was down to a nub. I was unable to locate a suitable replacement for that damaged blade, so I opted to have the damaged blade removed and the knife made into a single blade. The collector value is lost now but it sure does feel good in my pocket.

That is sure one sweet old Ulster even with one blade.
